  • The Korean team defeated their Vietnamese opponents 2-0
  • GAM were the last representative from a minor region at Worlds 2023
  • Dplus dominated the entire match, finishing both games very quickly

With fan-favorites Dplus KIA eliminating GAM Esports from the World Championship 2023, the tournament is left with representatives only from the four major regions: LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS.

GAM Esports Leaves Worlds 2023

We are well into this year’s League of Legends World Championship and with three more weeks remaining in the tournament, teams from all around the globe are busy duking it out in an attempt to reach the top and win fame and a piece of the over $2 million prize pool. Unfortunately for many of them, a lot of teams will not make it to the end and GAM Esports recently joined their ranks.

The Vietnamese organization was the last minor region team to compete in the event and with their elimination, the Worlds are only left with major powerhouses to compete for the coveted trophy. GAM didn’t have it easy, as the team had to go up against LCK fourth seed Dplus KIA, a notoriously good team, which quickly secured a 2-0 victory.

Despite being eliminated from the World Champions, it should be noted that GAM performed rather well to even get to this point. Unfortunately, they simply had the bad luck to go up against Dplus KIA, which entered the match as the heavy favorite. Considering they took the initiative from the very beginning, the Korean team lived up to expectations.

Here’s How the Match Went

Deft secured the first blood for Dplus KIA within the first few minutes of the game and from then the Vietnamese team found themselves constantly going downhill. In 27 minutes, their Korean opponents were already in GAM’s base and they did not even allow the Vietnamese squad to secure even one kill.

The second game was a bit more balanced, at least in the beginning. But although GAM made proactive attempts to counter Dplus’ plays, it was not enough, as the Koreans once again took the initiative and dictated how the game would play out. In fact, they managed to make an even shorter game, defeating GAM in just 25 minutes.

With GAM exiting the League of Legends Worlds 2023, the tournament is left without any representatives from minor regions. Now, the tournament is completely dominated by teams from the four major regions: LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS.
