Arcane continues to draw in massive audiences and leading charts all around the world.

Riot’s First Animated Series Proves Massively Popular

By this point, most League of Legends players have seen or at least heard of Riot’s first original animated series Arcane. The game studio has been famous for making short animated pieces and trailers before, but with Arcane they have dived head into a proper and long TV series.

The show premiered on November 6, right after the massively popular LoL World Championship with its three first episodes. The series will have a total of nine episodes, released in batches of three on Saturdays, with the last batch being aired on November 20.

Arcane follows the story of popular League champions Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, and Jayce, before they even met on the battlefield at the Summoner’s Rift. The series can even appeal to viewers that don’t play League of Legends, as it is its standalone story. The fact that the art style is unique and the atmosphere is well crafted also adds to the show’s appeal.

Arcane Breaks Its Own Record

Since its launch, Arcane has broken many records, quickly becoming the most viewed series on Netflix in 38 countries. With the release of the second three-episode batch this Saturday, the show’s popularity skyrocketed again, this time breaking its own record and, according to Fixpatrol, becoming the most viewed show in 50 countries.

Arcane’s massive popularity has obviously not gone unnoticed by Riot and the company has already decided to capitalize on its success. To celebrate the show, Riot released a special event across all its games called Progress Days. The event brings Arcane-themed content to all of Riot’s titles, which includes new skins inspired by Arcane’s main characters.

The show has been an outstanding success, not just by the number of views, but also by the fact it was so well received, being praised by Forbes, who gave some numbers to illustrate how well the Arcane performed in front of critics. The series has a whopping 98% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, and having a 9.6 score on Metacritic.

Arcane’s final act will be released this Saturday with its last three episodes promising a climax to the narrative. Riot has already teased they will be working on new animated content after Arcane airs, so in the future, we could be seeing other great pieces from the League of Legends cinematic universe.
