Epic Games seems to be preparing a real grand scale event for passionate console players to enjoy.

A Big Console Tournament for All Regions and Consoles

Epic Games is catering to its console playerbase with the Fortnite Console Champions Cup. The event will start with several console-exclusive tournaments in all regions.

The tournaments will be held next weekend from Friday May 14 to Sunday May 16. Each console player who owns either a PlayStation 4 or 5, an Xbox One or S/X or a Nintendo Switch will be eligible to participate if they fulfill the following conditions:

  • Have a two-factor authentication
  • Have a level 30 Epic Games account
  • Have reached Champion League in Arena play

The event will sport a points-based system. The tournament will have four rounds, each lasting around three hours. During that time players can earn points by eliminating others and placing higher.

The event will be bigger in Europe, North America and Brazil where 1500 teams will move into the second round, compared to just 250 teams for Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. The final round will feature 33 teams in each region.

Europe will also be getting the lion’s share of the total $250,000 prize pool with $112,350 set aside for the European champions.

The Format and the Points System

In the first three round points earning will be as follows:

  • Victory Royale: 25 points
  • Second place: 20 points
  • Third place: 16 points
  • Eliminations: 1 point

In the last round the points will increase to 30, 26 and 24 for the first, second and third place respectively. Eliminations will increase to 2 points.

For further details refer to the official announcement on Epic Games’ official page.

The Console Champions Cup is planned to be a reoccurring seasonal event that will satisfy console players’ thirst for competitive tournaments. Another series of smaller tournaments are planned for each console separately that will have in-game prizes instead of money.

Fortnite has experienced some hurdles with not meeting its esports revenue goals but remains a giant in the world of both casual and competitive gaming. The Console Champions Cup is sure to engage console players and continue strengthening interest in the game.

From our 5 star review…

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
