  • OG couldn’t afford to lose a single game or else they would be out
  • They won the first game against Spirit, but lost the second one, resulting in their elimination
  • Captain Ceb talked about the team’s overall run through the event

A series of suboptimal individual performances have cost OG’s spot at the tournament, according to captain Sébastien “Ceb” Debs.

Spirit Defeat OG

OG had a tough slog through BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 which unfortunately for them ended recently as they were eliminated from Group B of the event after their match against Team Spirit. It was crucial for OG to win the encounter as the result from it would mean they could either proceed forward or go home.

The European team found themselves in this precarious situation after two consecutive losses to Azure Ray and BetBoom Team at the initial stages of the event. This ultimately put them on a crash course to going out, which OG avoided for a while by defeating nouns 2-0 to score their first victory in the event. However, as captain Sébastien “Ceb” Debs pointed out in a post-match interview, it was too early for the team to get comfortable, as they were still playing for survival and their next opponent would be Team Spirit.

There wasn’t any room for mistakes as OG had to win two games to stay alive in the tournament. If they dropped even one game they would be out of BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024. Their match against Team Spirt started well with OG giving their best, resulting in a thrilling victory. However, it seems OG overdid it as they did not seem to have more steam left as they failed to repeat this achievement in the second game. Spirit was able to kite and make space for its cores, resulting in OG losing the game and being eliminated from the Dubai event.

Ceb Talks About OG’s Run

Following the heartbreaking defeat, the team’s captain had a few words to say about the match and OG’s performance as a whole. He reluctantly admitted that the team’s troubles might be due to individual; issues rather than the squad as a whole. “I think it comes down a lot to – I hate to say it because that’s usually the last thing I go back to, but I think it comes down to individual performance at the end of the day. You know, result-wise, we are one of the worst teams of this tournament but I think all our first 15-20 minutes, our system, it feels like we always start really strong against these best teams,” Ceb explained.

He later reiterated his words, saying that some players were not in their best shape or had a rough time outside the game, inside the game. “We tried to help as much as we could. We put up a fight but I think at the end of the day, it was just too short,” Ceb said.

On Twitter, the Dota 2 team’s captain had a few more words to say, expressing regret about the early leaving of OG from the event. However, he ended with a positive outlook on his team’s future as he thanked the fans for their support and reiterated that there are still many more opportunities left for OG to prove themselves.

OG is an organization that has shown a tendency to grow stronger over time, so Ceb’s words may prove to be true. The team’s next opportunity to prove itself will be at the DreamLeague Season 22, which begins on February 25.
