  • Shopify Rebellion are proceeding forward into DreamLeague Season 22
  • They missed qualifying for ESL One Kuala Lumpur and BetBoom Dacha 2024
  • SabeRLight- argued this was a good thing for the organization

Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek argues that his team missing two events means they could give 100% at the DreamLeague Season 22.

Shopify Rebellion Continues Forward

DreamLeague Season 22 – Group Stage 1 is coming to a close, but it has already seen some quite interesting developments. One of them is that favorites Team Liquid were was one of the first teams to be eliminated from the tournament.

However, other teams have surpassed expectations and have proven themselves on the stage. Such is the case for Canadian esports organization Shopify Rebellion who finished Group B with a strong result, even beating the likes of Team Spirit. Following their latest match against Xtreme Gaming, Shopify Rebellion’s Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek sat down for an interview with Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden to explain how the team is doing.

The team missed some important events recently, such as the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai. With such an important experience missing, one might think that Shopify Rebellion might not perform all too well in DreamLeague Season 22. However, according to SabeRLight-, this actually helped SR in the current tournament.

The Player Explains SR’s Performance

“It’s a bit annoying but at the same time, we had a lot of space and time to grow and to practice. And not going to Dacha [BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai]]… That one is a bit unfortunate but at least we had some time to chill out between all the quals and all the Dota,” said SabeRLight-. “As you can see, there are so many tournaments so you have to pick and choose which ones you play.”

The player further gave an example of Team Liquid, who, as we mentioned, left the tournament quite early. According to SabeRLight-, who was brought to the team a couple of months ago as a stand-in initially, the fact that the team had participated in previous events, means that they were unable to perform at 100% in the current one.

However, Shopify Rebellion not participating in ESL One Kuala Lumpur and BetBoom Dacha 2024, means the team had energy to spend at DreamLeague Season 22. “You can’t play 100% in every single tournament so us not playing Dacha means that we can put our 100% in this one and our next one,” SabeRLight- explained.

Considering the team finished the group stage with a score of 2 series wins and 5 series draws, the player’s words have quite some validity to them. Shopify Rebellion’s performance is commendable, especially considering they were put in the arguably harder group. The organization has now secured a spot in group stage 2 and thus is now one step closer to winning its first DreamLeague tournament.
