Rivalry and Blacklist International will focus more on “creative storytelling” and fan-focused activations with their 2024 partnership.

Organizations Renew Partnership

Southeast Asian esports organization Blacklist International has recently renewed its Dota 2 partnership with esports bookmaker Rivalry. As such, the two entities will continue to jointly operate the Southeast Asian Dota 2 team Blacklist Rivalry.

This team was first launched in December 2022 in a deal that saw Tier One Entertainment enter the competitive Dota 2 scene. Over the last year, the organization has seen decent success by qualifying for two tier-one events, namely the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 and the Bali Major 2023. Despite that, Blacklist Rivalry has had early exits from both events.

However, the organization aims to fix this with its new roster for the 2024 season. Alongside the news of the renewal of the contract, Blacklist Rivalry also revealed its newest lineup, consisting of:

  • Abed Azel “Abed” L. Yusop
  • Kim “Gabbi” Santos
  • Timothy John “Tims” Randrup
  • Juan “Carlo” Chua Manalo
  • Jinn Marrey “Palos” Lamatao

For Rivalry, this is the second partnership that the organization has revealed in February. The betting company recently teamed up with ex-professional LoL player Filipe “Ranger” Brombilla de Barrios. Rivalry made this deal in an effort to expand its outreach into Brazil, marking the growth the company has had over the past couple of years.

What Will the Renewed Deal Offer?

Back to the collaboration with Blacklist International, the two entities will focus more on “creative storytelling” and fan-focused activations. Although more details about these events are to be revealed in the future, some of the noted activations include meet-and-greets and producing new episodes of Blacklist Rivalry’s behind-the-scenes docuseries UnRivaled. Furthermore, the organization will host various activations at Dota 2 events the team participates in.

“Entering into our second year, we will continue building Blacklist Rivalry into a top-tier team that can rival the world’s most talented squads,” said about the deal Tryke Gutierrez, CEO at Tier One Entertainment.

“As we look to maintain a culture of winning at Blacklist Rivalry, our partners at Rivalry will be focused on building deeper fandom around the team and highlighting the impactful narratives that emerge throughout their competitions. This project started out as a dream and we will always be thankful to Rivalry for making this a reality.”
