  • This is following a long string of defeats the team endured
  • It’s unclear if the roster will stay together for future events
  • Gambit might be looking to downsize due to financial reasons

Following a dismal record of losses, AS Monaco Gambit has decided to release its Dota 2 roster.

The Organization Parts Ways with Its Roster

AS Monaco Gambit had a very disappointing 2021, which in turn led the organization to have to ground its Dota 2 roster earlier this year. Eventually, Gambit parted ways with its Dota 2 squad consisting of alberkaaa, Lorenof, meLes, Immersion, and HappyDyurara.

But the organization’s problems do not end here as the last couple of months have been tough in general for the Eastern European Dota 2 region due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. Soon after the war started, Valve postponed the Dota 2 Pro Circuit indefinitely, and with no end in sight for the war, it seems the competition will not be held for a while.

It is currently not known if the ex-Gambit squad will stay together. The team played together during the Dota Pro Circuit’s first division, but then the war and subsequent postponing happened. The roster might again play together if the second division resumes when the squad will have their spot and a chance for promotion into division one.

The Organization Might Be Looking at a Downsizing

AS Monaco Gambit has had an abysmal performance the past few months. The organization’s Dota 2 team has consistently placed in the 7-8 place in every tournament since the start of the year. But the organization’s troubles expand into last year as well, again consistently getting the lowest spots in most tournaments. Gambit’s best performance was probably when they the bronze medal at the ESL One DPC Eastern Europe Season 2: Upper Division.

With such a terrible track record come measly financial winnings, which makes it even more difficult to support many teams in these uncertain times. Perhaps this is why Gambit is trying to downsize. In April many squads left the organization with the team’s CS:GO squad joining Cloud9’s ranks while its Fortnite players became free agents.

For not the organization will continue its journey in the DPC (assuming that is continued by Valve at some point in the near future) with its one remaining roster, consisting of Smiling Knight, mellojul, AfterLife, sayuw, and Pantomem.

For now, fans will have to be content with the upcoming Dota 2 Major, which is to be held in Stockholm, starting May 12.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
