For the second year in a row, cryptocurrency betting platform Thunderpick will be hosting a worldwide Counter-Strike tournament.

Thunderpick Reveals Tournament

Lately, various betting platforms have taken a more active role in esports by sponsoring or even hosting esports events, such is the case for the cryptocurrency betting platform Thunderpick, which announced a global Counter-Strike 2 tournament featuring a $1 million prize pool. Commencing on April 1st, the so-called Thuinderpick World Championship will run throughout the spring and summer and have its finals in late October.

The organization has been one of the biggest providers of betting and viewing services across a variety of esports events and markets. The company has previously worked with esports organization Evil Geniuses and the women-in-esports community the*gameHERs. With such a rich portfolio, perhaps it should not be surprising that Thunderpick wants to invest more actively into competitive Counter-Strike 2.

This tournament is also not the first time that the betting platform has organized such a thing. Last year Thunderpick hosted a CS:GO event featuring a $600 000 prize pool. Considering now the betting operator is offering way more in terms of prize money, it signifies their commitment to competitive Counter-Strike.

What Will the Event Look Like?

Being a worldwide event, the event will include six qualifiers across Europe, North America, and South America – the latter being a newly introduced region. All of these will be held online and it is expected the organizer will soon reveal more details about them on their official media channels.

Hosting such a big tournament is no easy feat and Thunderpick would need assistance. For this reason, the betting operator has renewed its partnership with esports data company GRID. The platform had previously occupied the same position in last year’s Thinderpick-hosted event and will once again provide the World Championship with tools, data visualization, and reliable infrastructure.

“The Thunderpick World Championship 2024 will be one of the most exciting tournaments of the year, featuring some of the top talent in the world of CS2,” said Kelly Sanders, Head of Strategy for Thunderpick, about the upcoming event. “This tournament not only underscores our dedication to the diverse and growing esports community but also marks a new milestone in our event series.”

“Expect intense competition and high-quality gameplay that will captivate fans and players around the world.”

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
