  • The organization announced that Simon “Sico” Williams has left the CS2 team
  • He had been a key player for the team which competed under different names over the years
  • Many players wished all the best for Suco in his future endeavors

Grayhound have parted ways with their long-standing rifler Simon “Sico” Williams who ends his tenure with the organization after being a key part of it for almost five years.

Sico Leaves Grayhound

Departures from teams can always be emotional but those emotions are often bigger the more time the player has spent with the organization. Such seems to be the case with New Zealander Sico who leaves the Grayhound after spending five years with the Counter-Strike roster.

Interestingly, the team had competed under different names these past years – Grayhound, Renegades, and ORDER. However, Sico was part of each iteration, helping the team maintain a position as by far Oceania’s best side, regularly dominating local and international events alike. “You’re a genuine legend and lifelong friend to us and our region, we wish you only the best of luck with whatever you choose going forward,” Grayhound wrote on Twitter about the player leaving the organization.

Sico Leaves a Lasting Legacy

Sico was statistically one of the team’s best players at the beginning of his tenure and still holds a respectable 1.11 rating. He dropped down to his current stats because he transitioned away from the AWP and also took up in-game leadership duties on and off during the past few years, causing his performance to drop down somewhat.

Now-former colleagues wished the player all the best in his future endeavors. “I can’t put into words how good of a friend and teammate Simon is,” said Alistair “aliStair” Johnston who has been Sico’s teammate for nearly four years. “I’ve been blessed to play most of my career in different teams with him and it’s always been a pleasure.”

Of course, the player himself had much to say about his departure. “It’s gonna feel weird not being with the boys not gonna lie. I knew this day might come when I took the risk to transition to rifle, when dexter left we had to figure some things out and sacrifices were made,” he said in a Twitter post. He also expressed his gratitude to his now-former teammates and wished the changes would fix any role issues the team may have been experiencing.

Grayhound have yet to announce who will replace Sico, so for now their roster looks like this:

  • Joshua “INS” Potter
  • Alistair “aliStair” Johnston
  • Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas
  • Declan “Vexite” Portelli
  • Erdenetsogt “erkaSt” Gantulga (coach)
