ITB Sign new In-Game Leader

European esports organization Into the Breach has announced it has acquired a new in-game leader in the face of 24-year-old Alexey “Qikert” Golubev. The Kazakhstani national joins the team on a three-month loan, but the organization also has a priority option to buy the player any time before that period ends.

Qikert assumes the role of IGL from Thomas “Thomas” Utting following the Brit’s decision to take a step back from the lineup. With this, Into the Breach hopes to regain some ground, after a turbulent summer, in which they lost their core of Thomas, Sebastian “volt” Maloș, and Cai “CYPHER” Watson. It should be noted that the latter’s loss was a huge setback, as CYPHER was TSM’s MVP at their Counter-Strike re-debut match against Fake Natty, proving that Into the Breach lost such a great player to another organization.

Fortunately for Into the Breach, the org did not stay without an IGL for too long, as Qikert quickly became available for signing after he decided to withdraw from’s active roster in August. It seems that he decided to do so after the team failed to qualify for the Paris Major.

Now that he joined ITB, Qikert will be leaving his home region for the first time in six years. The player began his career with the Kazakhstani squad LOG. He would eventually join and help the team triumph at IEM Rio Major 2022 when the core competed under the banner of Outsiders.

Neil “NeiL_M” Murphy, ITB’s team manager explained that the signing of Qikert alongside those of misutaaa & Bymas shows how big the organization’s ambitions are going forward into CS2. “All three players have multiple tier 1 playoff runs & we fully believe with these five that the team will reach the highest level in CS2,” he explained. “We hope our fans who support our Paris run will continue to support this new chapter in ITB!”

Qikert also stated how excited he is to play alongside his new teammates explaining that he has long had the desire to try out an international team. “I always wanted to try myself in an international team, and this opportunity puts a lot of responsibility on my shoulders that I’m more than ready for,” the player explained. “I can’t wait to start practicing with the team and feel myself alive again.”

With Qikert now on board, Into the Breach’s roster composition looks like this:

  • Karol “rallen” Rodowicz
  • Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel
  • Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras
  • Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier
  • Alexey “Qikert” Golubev
  • Martin “trace” Heldt (coach)
  • Thomas “Thomas” Utting (benched)
  • Gustavo “Juve” Alexandre (benched)
