  • Imperial’s acquisition comes just days before the start of the ESL Impact League S5 Finals
  • The org’s CEO says this signing is an attempt to “make moves that change the course of things”
  • Pigeons will have a rival in the face of NaVi Javelins in the upcoming event

Pigeons have been organizationless since February but this ends now as they join Imperial as their new all-female Counter-Strike 2 team.

Imperial Sign Pigeons

We are just a few days away from the start of the ESL Impact League Season 5 Finals and organizations are busy making some last-minute preparations for the event. For Brazilian esports organization Imperial, this means acquiring an entire new roster as recently, the company revealed they have confirmed the signing of Pigeons.

An end to a whirlwind search for an organization by the two-time women’s Team of the Year squad comes to an end with this signing. Now, the players have a banner to play under after months of being organiuzationless. “Pigeons and Imperial come together to make the impossible real in the search for titles and development of the national and international women’s esports scene,” the org’s post says.

Imperial CEO and founder Felippe Martins said the company reached out to the squad both in an attempt to win international trophies and to “make moves that change the course of things”.

“The girls’ arrival is linked to our contribution to the evolution of the women’s scene in Brazil,” Martins further explained. “In the medium and long term, we will bring their experience to help train new players and encourage this growth.”

How Has the Squad Been Doing?

It has been a rough couple of months for the Pigeons players as the team parted ways with Nigma Galaxy on February 14 after a long association that began in September 2021. However, that did not hinder the girls from still performing well in the competitive Counter-Strike 2 scene.

Even without the backing of an organization, the squad went through their ESL Impact Europe group to qualify for the upcoming Finals in Dallas. However, they still lost two titles to NaVi Javelins in the last month. NaVi Javelins have often been seen as a favorite and a rival of the Pigeons. It’s safe to say that the Javelins have the highest chance of any CS2 all-female team to make a big change in women’s Counter-Strike.

However, this will be answered in Dallas where the ESL Impact League Season 5 will start on May 31. At the tournament, Imperial Imperial will be looking to claim their fifth Impact title in as many seasons. Zainab “zAAz” Turkie will also be making her  LAN debut after she joined the team following the departure of Ksenia “vilga” Kluenkova a few months ago. Speaking of the players, here is the full Pigeons roster now under Imperial’s banner:

  • Ana “ANa” Dumbravă
  • Victoria “tory” Kazieva
  • Alexandra “twenty3” Timonina
  • Katarína “Kat” Vašková
  • Zainab “zAAz” Turkie
  • Reinis “hyskeee” Grīnbergs (coach)

From our 5 star review…

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
