  • VINI, a member of FURIA since the org’s inception, was saddened by the news but will keep moving forward

FURIA Esports will remove longtime member VINI and will seek to acquire the Brazilian star saffee in his place.

FURIA to Replace VINI With Saffee

As the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive offseason continues, more teams proceed with roster changes and strategic player acquisitions. The Brazilian esports organization FURIA Esports is no different. According to a report by esports news outlet Globo Esporte, the org is eyeing an acquisition of the paiN Gaming player Rafael “saffee” Costa.

The report has it that FURIA’s plan is to put the AWPer in the shoes of the rifler Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo. This report soon after Nicholas “guerri” Nogueira, FURIA’s coach, informed VINI that he will not be playing with the team in the next competitive season.

FURIA’s decision to set its sights on saffee isn’t random. The team was really looking to add a dedicated sniper to its roster and considering saffee’s savvy with the AWP, he definitely seems like a logical pick.

However, the player is currently considered one of the most skilled Brazilian players which means that acquiring him won’t be an easy undertaking. Globo Esporte emphasized that numerous other teams are simultaneously coveting saffee’s abilities on their rosters and will bid with FURIA over him.

Esports news platform RushBMedia contacted both FURIA and paiN but the teams refused to comment.

FURIA will most likely make other changes to its roster ahead of the next season. According to rumors, the organization plans to remove the recent academy team graduate André “drop” Abreu and replace him with the rifler Marcelo “cello” Cespedes.

VINI Is Sad to Leave FURIA

As for VINI, the player will likely land a new team in no time. According to Globo Esporte, Team Liquid has already shown interest in acquiring him.

Even so, in a personal Twitlonger post, VINI said that he was saddened that FURIA no longer needs him. After all, he has played with the organization for the past four years, since the organization’s very creation in 2017. Although he understands that this is the life of a professional athlete and knows that FURIA really needs a dedicated sniper, he couldn’t help but feel down.

VINI concluded that after he retires, he will continue being on the esports scene and hopes to once again be affiliated with FURIA – the team he helped establish as the best Brazilian CS:GO team in the world.
