  • The organization revealed the signing of Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip
  • Stewie is one of NA’s most talented players, having won both an Intel Grand Slam and a major
  • Evil Geniuses CEO hints at other potential recruits

With the new competitive CS:GO season approaching fast, Evil Geniuses have announced the signing of veteran player Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip.

EG Signs Stewie2K

On December 18, Evil Geniuses revealed they have made a contract with Jacky Yip, a.k.a. Stewie2K, for their CS:GO team. The 24-year-old pro is one of North America’s most successful players and has competed for the likes of Team Liquid and Cloud9 before.

In the announcement video, Stewie says how excited he is to join the new roster. “We can’t wait to show what we can do and reveal our true potential,” he adds.

Evil Geniuses struck gold by signing Stewie2K into their midst. He is a true veteran of the CS:GO competitive scene, being the only North American player with both an Intel Grand Slam and a major. In 2018, Stewie was part of the Cloud9 team that won the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 against Faze Clan. This brought North America its first major title. A year later in 2019, Stewie was now playing for Team Liquid, and again he proved his skills by helping the TL team win the Intel Grand Slam. That one is awarded to teams that win four S-Tier events organized by ESL or DreamHack Masters during a window of 10 consecutive events.

A couple of weeks ago, Stewie left Team Liquid, who are rebuilding their roster with the likes of Shox, in preparation for his transfer to Evil Geniuses.

Stewie2K Is the First Piece of EG’s Plan

By signing Stewie, Evil Geniuses is starting to build a revamped CS:GO roster. There are rumors that more of Stewie’s 2018 winning Cloud9 team will be joining him, according to a Twitter thread from Evil Geniuses CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson.

Additionally, according to French news outlet 1pv.fr, Timothy “autimatic” Ta will be moving back to CS:GO after his stint with the T1 VALORANT team. This might confirm some hints that LaPointe Jameson made. “I know you all want roster moves to come Autimatically,” she wrote. Another thing to note is that Jameson might be hinting at acquiring William “RUSH” Wierzba with a comment reading “News is coming, no need to Rush.”

Evil Geniuses has not yet revealed their full roster lineup, but the hints are solid, coming straight from the CEO. The remaining two spots will likely be taken by Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov, who are both already on the team. Only time will tell if this potential roster composition will be North America’s new hope.
