  • The saga with Velly’s resignation from the CDL continues
  • He now claims he was “assaulted” by another caster during the incident on July 17
  • Some pro players have come to support Velly’s claims

After leaving the CDL saying it was of his own volition, Velly now claims he has been assaulted by an “aggressive” caster during the incident that prompted Velly’s departure.

Velly Changes His Stance

Popular Call of Duty League caster Loviel “Velly” Cardwell sent shocks through the CoD community when he recently announced his departure from the CDL. Initially, the broadcasting talent stated that his decision to do so was because he was involved in an “intoxicated altercation” with other cast members during the celebrations after the end of the July 17 New York Major.

However, in a recent Twitch stream, Velly said that the original Dexerto report about the incident was “fake news” and “disgusting.” Instead, he claimed that he was actually assaulted and threatened by an “aggressive” member of the CDL broadcast team. Allegedly this figure “put his hands” on Velly, who had been arguing with another CDL broadcaster, who Velly described as a longtime friend.

Players Defend Velly

Several CoD pros have come to Velly’s defense, one of which is CDL player Crimsix, who was a witness to the incident. According to him, Velly and another broadcaster were having an “argument between friends” before a third caster attempted to mediate. This led to the third caster grabbing Velly’s arms and telling him to calm down.

According to Crimsix, the incident escalated further over a supposed shove that he was not personally witness to. The third caster also allegedly yelled at Velly and was ready to fight him because of the supposed shove.

Another CDL player, Standy, also took Velly’s side. Apparently, he was also ? witness to the incident and said that the original article was “sad” and made Velly look like an “evil villain.” Shortly after that Velly followed with a tweet reading “I’m not a scary black man and it’s embarrassing to be painted that way.”

Apparently, Velly decided to just quit the CDL altogether rather than stay in a “hostile” work environment. He also added that he will not be naming the other person involved in the incident. Velly is currently working for no talent agency and is searching for a new job, but he has left the proverbial door open about returning to the CDL.

Meanwhile, the CDL has remained silent on the details of the incident, despite Velly’s claims that the agency knows about the occurrence.
