  • iLLeY is recovering from his thumb injury, but still helped his team
  • He traded places back and forth with General until the latter was again sidelined
  • OpTic might bring in Prolute as iLLeY’s substitute for its match against Los Angeles Guerrillas

OpTic Texas’s iLLeY has been dealing with a thumb injury that tossed the team into disarray over the past few weeks.

iLLeY’s Injury and How It Affected OpTic’s Performance

OpTic Texas’ Call of Duty team will be needing a stand-in for iLLeY, who is currently recovering from a lingering thumb injury, and the organization is looking at Prolute. Sources told this to Dot Esports and added that the move may see General be pushed back to the bench.

The injury in question, that prompted this whole roster change, was reported by OpTic Texas’ head coach Rambo on May 1. iLLeY had an infection in his thumb, an issue he had been dealing with since Major Two in Minnesota.

However, General was not able to make his season debut as Rambo announced iLLeY had made progress on his recovery, allowing him to play after all. In the end, General was pushed back to the substitute position.

And it seems iLLeY’s injury did not hinder his performance all that much, as he helped his team defeat Toronto Ultra’s European Challenger team. Not only that, but the player’s score was enviable, finishing the four map series with a 1.23 kill/death ratio, 79 kills, and close to 9,000 damage. However, iLLeY was sidelined again before OpTic’s second match of the day. General was shuffled back into the starting lineup.

Nevertheless, General stood his ground and with his aid, OpTic Texas qualified for bracket play and went on to eliminate Atlanta FaZe in the quarter-finals. However, the team, unfortunately, placed top four after a 1–3 loss to Los Angeles Thieves in the semi-finals.

OpTic Might Substitute iLLeY with Prolute

Due to this performance, it was expected that iLLeY would return to the team’s starting lineup, however, according to Shotzzy the player is still experiencing problems with his thumb and won’t be rejoining soon. Instead, OpTic will likely look at signing Prolute as a temporary fill-in, once again pushing General to the bench, sources told Dot Esports.

Prolute’s career in Challengers goes back to 2020. The player has even crowned the North American Challenger Champion during Cold War. He is viewed as one of the best amateur players throughout that season and BreakingPoint even voted him the 14th best Challenger player.

If OpTic brings in Prolute, he will make his debut in the CDL against Los Angeles Guerrillas on Friday at 4.30 PM EST.
