  • MWII And Warzone 2 Introduce a new battle pass system
  • It allows players to unlock items in the order they wish to
  • This is done by tokens that are earned through playing and stored in the Token Bank

Unlike older games, Modern Warfare II’s battle pass unlocking of items is a bit more complicated with many players wondering how to use the Token Bank.

Activision Introduces New System

Battle pass systems have become a staple in many games and the Call of Duty franchise is no exception to that. The battle pass system that Activision added in the recently released Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare II is unlike any seen in previous titles of the franchise.

In older games, each season introduced a battle pass with 100 tiers of content on it. Players would start at tier one and then work their way to the last tier. The way to advance up the ladder was to simply play the game or acquire tier skips, which let players bypass tiers.

However, Warzone 2 and MWII introduced a radically new system. Instead of simply going through the steps one by one, players can now choose specific content they want to unlock first. The 100 tiers are now separated into 20 different sectors, each one with five pieces of content. To unlock these sectors, players must use Battle Pass Tokens, which are earned through playtime or bought with COD Points.

This is the point where the Token Bank comes in – an underrated part of the new battle pass system that is not very well explained in MWII.

So What Exactly Is the Token Bank?

Just as it sounds like, the Token Bank is the place where the player’s unused battle pass tokens go. Players can choose to spend them immediately after they earn them or wait and spend them all at once. It has to be noted that a battle pass owner’s tokens are shared across MWII and Warzone 2.

Players can see their tokens in MWII if they go to the battle pass tab and then took in the bottom right corner of the screen. From there, players can use the tokens to unlock the content they wish. The battle pass is set up into clusters around a “map” of 20 hexagonal sectors and once a player clears a cluster, a new one opens up next to the one that was just cleared.

Players have to use tokens to unlock everything in that cluster with the last item being locked until everything else is unlocked first. The Token Bank and the cluster system are very useful here as they allow players to essentially customize their battle pass experience.

The Bank will close when a player completes their battle pass. Once this happens, players will have to wait until next season to start filling up their Token Bank again.
