The remake of the most popular Call of Duty title – Modern Warfare II – is launching a limited open beta in mid-September, showcasing some of its maps and game modes.

Beta Coming in September

“Mark your calendars for September 15: The future of Call of Duty® will be revealed at Call of Duty: Next, a Franchise Showcase Event,” is what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s developer Infinity Ward wrote in an article announcing news for the upcoming game. The long-awaited remake of the CoD franchise’s most popular game will launch its open beta version on the weekend of September 22 to 26.

Like all other CoD betas, this one arrives in several chunks depending on which platform the player plays on and if they have pre-ordered the game. Despite the game coming on all platforms on September 22, this only applies to customers who have pre-ordered. Additionally, PlayStation users get priority. The new CoD beta will be available to them starting Friday, September 16, for pre-registered users, and on September 18 for all other PlayStation players. The MWII open beta will end on Tuesday, September 20th.

What Can We Expect to See in the Open Beta?

Infinity Ward has not given a lot of detailed information on what we could expect in September. The developer has simply said that we will see “a robust multiplayer experience going beyond the Core 6v6 experience with a variety of meticulously designed maps of various sizes, and an equally impressive set of Modes, Progression experiences, and other aspects”.

Said multiplayer will be revealed at the Call Of Duty: Next event the following month, but it’s safe to say that we will not receive any of the more extraordinary features teased about the game. We will instead most likely see several 6v6 maps and one or two of the big maps that Infinity Ward has planned.

All is not lost, however, as judging by previous CoD betas, we’ll likely see shifting modes throughout the two weekends, with several playlist updates throughout the beta. As maps are taken from the new Warzone 2 map, players will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with that ahead of the battle royale sequel’s launch. We may even see a glimpse of CoD: MWII’s rumored map editor.

Access to the beta can be earned by watching many influencers, streamers, YouTubers, and others, who will be giving out free Early Access codes.

From our 5 star review…

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
