  • Hwei received many nerfs on the Public Beta Environment
  • They should force players to play more aggressively in the mid-late game
  • All these changes could still change before the champion’s release

Hwei has been heavily tested in the PBE which has resulted in him getting a slew of nerfs way before even being released next week.

Hwei Gets Many Nerfs

With League of Legends’ Patch 13.24 coming soon, the community is preparing for the arrival of the newest champion – Hwei, the Visionary. New champions often get various early patches that readjust them once they hit servers and more data about their performance is collected. However, it seems that Hwei is nerfing the new character a week before he’s even introduced in the game.

The champion is currently under testing in the Public Beta Environment (PBE) and he was recently hit with a wave of changes in preparation for his release next week. Many fans have even created a special subreddit for the champion even before he arrived on the global servers. Champion designer Myles “Emizery” Salholm took to said subreddit to explain what these changes are.

According to the Riot dev, the team concentrated a lot of their efforts in response to the attack and EW based changes earlier this week. Additionally, the champion’s burst potential has been reduced which should allow greater casting cadence. This should push Hwei players to combo spells more frequently and play a bit more aggressively in the mid-late game.

As you can see, most of the changes to Hwei are nerf, which goes against the trend that will see Riot buff a dozen champions in Patch 13.24. That being said the above-mentioned changes may still be changed anytime before the character’s release, so it’s highly possible the end product does not receive such a harsh treatment.

Hwei will arrive on the Summoner’s Rift on December 6, alongside what is LoL’s last major update for 2023.
