Valve and the DPC Teams Introduce New Content
Valve has introduced new content to the Supporters Club – the unique system where casual players can support their favorite Dota Pro Circuit teams by purchasing skins and cosmetics. Players can purchase the Supporters Club package corresponding to their favorite team and show off their love for Dota 2 esports.
The Supporters Club is a fairly new initiative that Valve introduced in May 2021. It allows teams to make custom in-game content bearing their branding and put it on the Supporters Club marketplace. When fans purchase a package, 50% of the proceeds go directly to the teams, making it a perfect way to support the game and its esports scene.
In December, Valve unveiled regional prices for the Supporters Club packages, making it easier for people from all around the world to support their preferred DPC athletes.
Some Teams Have Been Cutting Corners
Many of the biggest esports teams have already released a Supporters Club offering with more working to release their own Supporters Club content. More impressive skins will likely hit the marketplace as teams get used to the system.
The Supporters Club is a great addition on Valve’s side but that isn’t to say that all teams are putting the same amount of effort into their packages. Since esports organizations have almost complete liberty as to what their skins can be, some have been seen cutting corners.
Despite being one of the biggest and most influential esports and gaming lifestyle brands, TSM FTX has barely put any effort into its Supporters Club pack. The team’s package includes the bare minimum of content, with the badge, sprays, and loading screens being nothing more than TSM’s logo.
Other packages seem to have issues. Alliance’s players put some dedication into making custom voice lines for certain characters. Yet, despite the team’s hard work, those voice lines seem to be missing from the final version of the package.
Evil Geniuses, however, has not compromised with the quality of their pack and released memeable sprays and lighthearted content made with true love.
