  • Ioann “Edward” Sukhariev, a former Na’Vi rifler and CS:GO ace, is reportedly coming back to the game
  • Sukhariev will probably captain his team as the 33-year-old plans to make his mark on competitive esports once again
  • If the rumors are true, Edward and his team will face the likes of Gambit and Virtus.pro in the CIS region

CS: GO fans in the CIS region may soon have a new team to cheer for, with former Na’Vi ace “Edwards” possibly returning to storm the highest tiers of CS:GO competition.

Former Na’Vi Rifler Edward Returning to CS:GO

Ioann “Edward” Sukhariev may be returning to competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive after ESTNN reported that the former Na’Vi rifler is looking for a way to make his mark on the competitive scene again.

Edward has had a fairly dormant last few months, and he has not played in any high-tier events since October 2020, but this may be soon changing. As one of the most promising players Na’Vi has had on the roster, it’s unlikely for the 33-year-old to retire just like that.

ESTNN has not revealed details about his return date, but if the report is to be trusted, he should find traction within the community before long. His team originally benched Edward in May 2019 in favor of Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov

The player was then shifted to Winstrike Team as a stand-in but never really left the organization before he took a sabbatical. He was allowed to take a break from competitive gaming and then returned with Selectah

Enthusiasm Rekindled and a New Team

Selectah didn’t make it far, as enthusiasm was lacking, and the team disbanded only a month after it was formed. If the report is accurate, though, Edward is ready to have another go at the competitive scene, which is doubly impressive given his age.

By all standards of competitive gaming, Edward is a relic, but one with over a decade of experience in CS: GO. Edward may be looking to secure an entry as the captain of a team that he must feel confident enough to lead to the top.

However, any new team in the CIS region will be faced with challengers the likes of Gambit and Virtus.pro, both of which can clip the wings of any aspiring CS:GO outfit. Should Edward succeed, though, he will be able to pass his knowledge to a new generation of players and create another powerhouse in his own image in the region.
