- GeneRaL leaves Na’Vi’ ahead of the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit
- This is the second time this happens in the last six months
- The team’s captain says the reason is communication problems
After multiple communication problems and differing views on the game, Natus Vincere and GeneRaL have decided to part ways, this time for good.
GeneRaL Leaves Natus Vincere
With the start of the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit approaching fast, some organizations are making last-minute changes to their teams. One of these is Natus Vincere, who made a seemingly contradictive move by releasing one of its players – Victor “GeneRaL” Nigrini… for the second time.
Last summer, GeneRaL was involved in a messy roster situation, which saw him temporarily replaced by RAMZES. The former did not play on Natus Vincere’s main team for a while but was still technically under contract from the organization. That confusing situation was eventually resolved with GeneRaL returning to the team, however now it seems the player will no longer be competing for Na’Vi’.
GeneRaL is now finally a free agent not bound by any contracts. The organization came to this decision after the team’s fifth-place finish in the Eastern Europe regional league for the DPC’s Winter Tour. The team was dominated by the other teams in its region, narrowly avoiding being downgraded to a lower division. Because they were so outclassed by their rivals, it seems Na’Vi’s management saw it fit that some changes were needed, and GeneRaL was the first to feel their effect.
Team’s Captain Talks About the Subject
To announce the organization’s decision, Na’Vi’ posted a short video on YouTube where Solo, the team’s captain, mentioned the bad placement in the previous DPC. This led to discussions in the team and management and it seems like Solo and GeneRaL had very different views on the game, leading to a clash in communication, which became exasperated in online events.
Solo explained that it’s not good for the team to have vastly different opinions on the game. He mentioned that everyone is doing their best to have one concept on the game and that the team is currently working on this.
The problem is that, as Solo mentions in the video, the roster lock is happening on February 27, meaning Natus Vincere has about ten days to find a suitable replacement for GeneRaL. The captain also explains that it is paramount for the team to qualify in the top 3 in order to progress further. He also confirmed none of the remaining four players plan to leave the Dota 2 lineup.
Na’Vi’ still has its hands full before the start of the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit, and with GeneRaL leaving and coach Ivan “ArtStyle” Antonov moving to a new position within the organization, Solo will have to take up some of the slack.
