Dota 2’s OpenAI Movie “Artificial Gamer” Is Screening This Friday
The future is here and it’s not looking good for our species. Artificial intelligence has been dismantling esports professionals in games such as chess, Go, StarCraft II, and Dota 2, and now, a new documentary dedicated to the show match between Dota 2 two-times TI winners OG and OpenAI will debut on Friday, September 24.
Aptly called “Artificial Gamer,” this movie captures the development that has gone in OpenAI and how the software was capable of defeating the undisputed two-time world champions. Now, Beyond the Summit will offer a breakdown of the events for those of you who are keen to know just at what point in our species’ history the machines took over.
The movie will come along with a show match between OG Esports and Beastcoast followed by the premiere screening. OpenAI has been a sensation in the Dota 2 world after first defeating Danil “Dendi” Ishutin during the TI7 in a one-one-one mid-lane fight.
The bot just out-scored Dendi all along the way and after two attempts, Dendi declared the bot a winner. Then, the OpenAI Five, a team of five bots, challenged paIN Gaming and Big God in TI8 with the bots losing.
Then, in April 2019, OpenAI Five returned to the competitive scene and took out on OG in a best of three series, finally defeating the team. Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan and Artour “Arteezy” Babaev also tried to take on OpenAI and failed with the bot happily keeping a virtual record of its triumphs, and few losses, on its YouTube channel.
