  • Riot Games is expanding its foothold in fields of entertainment other than gaming

Riot Games is slowly transforming into a larger entertainment company, which requires the hiring of nee specialized talents like industry veteran Molly Mason-Boulé.

Riot Hires New Global Head of Development

For over a decade and a half, Riot Games has grown significantly. Initially, the company was carried by its flagship project League of Legends, but during the past few years, Riot has quickly expanded into other games like VALORANT.

However, the company’s most recent large and impactful project was its first fully animated TV series Arcane. The show dominated Netflix charts worldwide, winning nine categories at the 49th Annie Awards, showing that Riot has become more than a gaming studio.

Reflective on its growth, Riot is hiring some of the best professionals in showbiz. Such is leading industry veteran Molly Mason-Boulé, who the company recently named global head of development studios at Riot.

Having spent over 18 years at Electronic Arts and having “touched the entire EA product portfolio during her time with the company”, Boulé seems more than qualified for her new position.

She said she is invigorated to be joining Riot at a time of big growth and transformation. “To be a part of advancing Riot’s bold vision for the future—becoming the most player-focused game company in the world while expanding our universes for players—is extremely inspiring,” said Boulé in a press release. “I look forward to the journey as we accelerate Riot into its next phase of scale and growth.”

Boulé’s Impressive Career

The new global head of development’s career spans way back before her time in EA. Boulé has also worked for notable companies like DreamWorks Animation and Radium/Reel FX. She is also part of the board of women in animation and regularly makes appearances as a guest lecturer at USC’s Marshall School of Business.

John Doyle, Riot’s chief operating officer, praised Boulé for her two decades in the industry and her standout track record in growing companies into multi-studio organizations, driving collaboration across high-performing global games teams. “As we continue to establish more development studios across the globe, Molly’s expertise will be vital to helping us scale to meet the growing needs of both our Games teams and players worldwide,” Doyle added.

Boulé’s new job at Riot will be to help the company expand its footprint “across the world to tap into key talent markets and accelerate game and feature development.” She will be involved in the managing of Riot’s development studios in Seattle, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai.
