MAD Lions are looking to revamp their LEC roster and have allegedly already reached verbal agreements with players Supa and Alvaro, and coach Melzhet.

MAD Are Changing LEC Team

While the world’s attention is concentrated on the League of Legends World Championship 2023 and all the drama that unfolds there, many organizations that are not participating in the tournament are busy restructuring. This also goes for MAD Lions around whom there have been rumors circulating recently.

According to them, the Spanish organization has allowed several of their staff members and players to explore different options for the next competitive season. Although the organization has yet to announce the departure of any of its players at the time of writing of this article, Mad Lions’ Director Till Werdermann all but confirmed these rumors in a post from a few days ago. “Regarding the latest rumors, we are exploring our options. It’s only fair that we allow our people to explore their options as well. We may still find that our best options are each other,” Werdermann wrote on Twitter.

However, deals are being done in the back and not announced yet. As per even more rumors, MAD will be focusing on a predominantly Spanish team for the upcoming year as they prepare for the 2024 season. This I indicated by the organization supposedly reaching verbal agreements with former Movistar Riders bot laner David “Supa” Martínez García and support Álvaro “Alvaro” Fernández del Amo. This happens a few days after Alejandro Gomis first reported that MAD Lions have also reached a similar verbal agreement with head coach Tomás “Melzhet” Campelos Fernández to join the organization in the LEC next year.

Perhaps it should not be too surprising as to why MAD Lions have their eyes on the three former MRS members. Together, they dominated the LVP SuperLiga in 2023 and even reached the EMEA Masters finals in Montpellier during the summer split. Thanks to this, Supa became one of the most-coveted AD Carry prospects of the 2024 off-season, with rumors circulating around that he had already received a total of three LEC offers.

The organization will likely make announcements when, or if, the contracts become officially signed. Whatever the case it seems the LEC would look different in 2024. But teams are not the only things that are restructuring, but rather the whole scene is as Kteamine Corps recently took Astralis’ LEC spot.

Of course, MAD Lions’ alleged verbal contracts with these players are just that, verbal, meaning they could change at any time. Until the organization makes official announcement on the matter, the this information with a grain of salt.
