- The organization almost entirely replaced its starting lineup
- Only Zhang “y`” Yiping remained from the previous roster
- Player’s personal decisions were a crucial reason for the revamping
LGD Gaming have rebuilt their roster and brought in power duo Zhou “Emo” Yi and Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan in the hopes of making radical progress in the next Dota 2 season.
LGD Unveil New Lineup
Following the end of this year’s Dota 2 competitive season, many organizations rushed to make changes and preparations for next year. By this point, the frantic roster movements have largely ended and teams are settling down with their new squads. This has not stopped Chinese esports organization LGD Gaming, however, as it recently revealed it has once again reshaped its lineup in preparation for the upcoming season.
In a statement on Weibo, LGD revealed the surprising changes, which included a move of Lin “planet” Hao to the inactive roster. This has made room for the power duo of Zhou “Emo” Yi and Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan, both of whom most recently played for Invictus Gaming.
The move brings an end to the weeks-long roster rearrangement that LGD has been undergoing. It was first hinted earlier this month when Wang “Ame” Chunyu hinted in a livestream about the possible departure of Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang, Lin “planet” Hao, and Zhang “y`” Yiping. That being said, the latter player stayed on the team’s active roster, making him the only one to not be replaced.
Why LGD Made The Radical Move
It seems that at least part of the reasons for the big roster reshuffling is the personal decision of some of the former players. In a statement, LGD acknowledged the developmental needs of its players and noted that they led to strategic alterations in the roster. The organization also emphasized Lin “planet” Hao’s moments in LGD of which the player has been a part since December of last year.
“Thank you, planet, for your efforts this year, and we hope to meet again in future competitions! The Bat Knight, the sharp gun in Seattle, and the Arcane Supreme—the great mage who controls magic—all these memories will be cherished,” LGD’s statement reads.
The announcement also welcomed the new additions to the team, Emo and Pyw, highlighting the former’s rise to fame at a young age. Meanwhile, on what seems like the other side of a well-balanced scale, Pyw was praised for his many years of competitive experience and steady playing style. Together, these two players could make an amazing Dota 2 power duo, LGD Gaming explained in the statement.
This big roster reshuffle is the end of a chapter for the organization, but with the addition of Emo and Pyw, it is also the start of another one.
