TSM Decided to Join the LCS Lock In With its Academy Team

in League of Legends
January 8, 2022
  • Amid COVID-19 struggles, TSM had trouble preparing its main roster for the LCS Lock In
  • The organization finally decided to join the event with its full Academy team
  • The young athletes will have the chance to shine as soon as January 14 when the event begins

Because of issues with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, TSM FTX has decided to field its Academy roster during the LCS Lock-In.

TSM Has Trouble Because of COVID-19

Team SoloMid FTX, competing in League of Legends as TSM, has made a daring move. Because of various travel issues its main team had, the organization has decided to join the LCS Lock-In a tournament with its Academy roster instead.

The brave decision was announced on the organization’s official Twitter page.

In the post, TSM explained that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has continuously prevented the org’s main team from practicing together. Because of this, TSM feels that the lineup is still unprepared for the esports challenges of the 2022 season. Furthermore, the travel restrictions are very likely to prevent TSM’s newly-acquired players Zhu “Keaiduo” Xiong and Wei “Shenyi” Zi-Jie from arriving in Los Angeles on time.

The Organization Has a Daring Solution

Despite all the difficulties, TSM has no intentions of giving up the event. Instead of seeking substitute players and mixing rosters in the last minute, the organization has firmly decided to instead get its entire Academy roster out on the field.

TSM explained that the Academy players practiced overseas and show the great potential of becoming remarkable athletes. Here is who TSM Academy’s players are:

  • Omran “V1per” Shoura – top lane
  • Young “Hyper” Seo – jungle
  • Ji Cha “Takeover” Hyeun-min – mid lane
  • Tony “Instinct” Ng – ad carry
  • Wang “Yursan” Sheng-Yu – support

According to TSM’s announcement, the decision to get the Academy team out wasn’t a spontaneous solution. Instead, TSM explained that it sought solutions for weeks. With the Academy team participating in the Lock-In, TSM will be able to not miss the tournament and will also relieve the main team from the hurdles of having to seek substitutes.

Furthermore, this will be a great opportunity for TSM’s Academy players to test their mettle and show how far their training has come.

The LCS Lock-In tournament is scheduled to begin on January 14. The Academy team will get the chance to shine right away as the first game of the event will be between TSM and 100 Thieves.
