LPL 2022: RNG vs FPX Odds & Preview – January 10, 2022

in League of Legends
January 9, 2022
  • The LPL returns with a best of three series between RNG and FPX on Monday, January 10
  • FPX are posted as the underdogs in the upcoming game after a major roster overhaul at the end of LPL 2021
  • Royal Never Give Up have introduced a single change to their roster and are set up as massive favorites

The Tencent League of Legends Pro League or LPL is returning on January 10, with a busy schedule packed all through March 20, 2022. One of the first big matches of the league will be the face-off between FunPlus Phoenix (2.95) and Royal Never Give Up (1.31).

RNG has introduced a single change to their roster, signing Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin as their new top laner, while FPX has decided to rely on a number of new players for a shot at upsetting the LPL pecking order in 2022.

The odds have RNG as the clear favorites here, but FPX’s new roster has the potential to claw its way to the top. The Tencent league promises to be every bit as entertaining as it was in 2021 and we can’t wait to see the first games played.

LPL 2022: RNG vs FPX Odds – January 10, 2022

  • FunPlus Phoenix to win 2.95
  • Royal Never Give Up to win 1.31

Royal Never Give Up Preview (Jan 10, 2022)

Royal Never Give Up had a clear run through LPL in 2021, defeating Team WE in the regional finals and cementing their place first place. The team faced little opposition while climbing to the top, but it did not fare too well in the League of Legends Worlds played over October and November.

The team placed #6 in the overall standing, not a bad result. However, RNG are confident in their ability to play. They have made no major changes to their roster, other than deciding to recruit Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin as their new top laner. Confidence is important, and the odds certainly back them for this one.

RNG is posted at 1.31 which means they are almost a shoo-in for the upcoming battle against FunPlus phoenix, but we would like to remind you that there are a few teams out there that can carry on in the same format and do better throughout the years.

FunPlus Phoenix Preview (Jan 10, 2022)

FunPlus Phoenix has had more on its plate recently. To begin with, Phoenix did have a disappointing group stage in Worlds 2021. Their team just failed to pull off any significant play throughout the competition, and they eventually ended #14 in the overall standing. Not a flattering result by any measure.

The team decided to completely revamp its roster, keeping Lin “Lwx” Wei-Xang while letting everyone else go. FPX then went on to add a number of excellent if somewhat unknown players. They include Ping “xiaolaohu” Xiao-Hu, jungler Yang “Beichuan” Ling, mid laner Kim “Gori” Tae-woo, AD carry Luo “jiang” Bai-Jiang, support Fu “Hang” Ming-Hang, and another support Dang “Lele” Bo-Lin.

These players come mostly from the team’s academy, although Gori is a known face who is coming back from LCK’s Nongshim RedForce. With a strong lineup and a lot of potential, FPX is definitely a tempting pick here.

  • Pick: FunPlus Phoenix (2.95) to win
  • Pick: FPX vs RNG Correct Score 2-1 (4.84)
