Jankos Points Out What G2 Needs to Advance Out of the LOL Worlds Groups Stage

in League of Legends
October 12, 2022
  • The LoL World Championship is well into its group stage
  • G2 has been having a somewhat difficult time in the tournament so far
  • Jankos talks about what his team needs to do to get out of the stage

G2’s jungler Marcin “Jankos,” Jankowski says his team needs just a little bit more of everything to make it out of the group stage.

Jankos Talks About G2’s Performance

The League of Legends World Championship is well underway and teams are duking it out in their respective groups. G2 hasn’t been performing too well in Group B, having suffered defeats at the hands of JD Gaming and DWG KIA. The team now has a score of 1-2 but its Polish jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski does not lose hope that G2 can make it out of groups.

The 27-year-old player recently outlined what he thinks his organization has to do to succeed. He said that G2 doesn’t have any particular flaw but instead needs to work on all its elements “just a little bit”.

“Our meta read is actually quite good… we have to step up individually as a team a little bit,” the player recently told Korizon in an interview. He pointed out that the team made some mistakes during the laning phase as well as some other team decisions. “But if we can improve our game overall by like five, 10 percent, and we can go with similar game plans on Friday…” Jankos added, “I’m sure then we can, you know, make it out of groups.”

G2 Continues Forward

G2 hasn’t been having it easy over the past few months. Many doubted G2 and other European teams’ chances against Eastern competition. On top of that, G2’s VALORANT branch had several controversies last month and many fans feared that these management and reputation problems might spread to the LoL team.

Despite that, G2 is still holding on alongside other European teams like Rogue, and Fnatic. This is proof enough for Jankos’ words, who said that LEC teams aren’t “weak” and play well under the pressure that the Worlds stage brings.

“I feel like we step up during pressure a lot, so it is definitely possible for us to you know, make it far,” Jankos said. “Besides MAD, we have pretty good teams and we can definitely take off games in BO1s against you know, the top teams from Asia.”

Only time will tell if Jankos’ words are true. He and his team’s next match will be against Evil Geniuses on October 14.
