Evil Geniuses has defeated Cloud9 and will continue to the winners’ finals at the LCS Mid-Season Showdown.

Evil Geniuses Defeated Cloud9

Despite all odds, Evil Geniuses’ League of Legends team has dominated the multi-time champions Cloud9. Thanks to its performance, the former team cemented its place in the LCS Mid-Season Showdown finals.

EG decimated Cloud9 with a 3-0 result. Despite C9’s best efforts, Evil Geniuses managed to control every situation and crush their opponents’ resistance. Here is how they did it:

Game 1

Evil Geniuses opted to open the first game with Joseph “jojopyun” Joon Pyun as Ryze and Kacper “Inspired” Sloma as Nocturne and split the map in two. To secure this strategy would work, EG purposefully targeted C9’s top lane player, Park “Summit” Woo-tae. C9 managed to take a few drakes but that didn’t matter to EG whose players had secured positional advantage over the top lane of the map. Thanks to this, the latter team managed to win the game.

Game 2

C9 knew that repeating the same tactic wouldn’t work and made some changes to their champions. The team focused on a hyper-carry bottom lane, hoping to reign supreme in the late game. However, Evil Geniuses countered C9’s attempts to build an advantage by punishing their competitors’ openings.

Jojopyun, Evil Geniuses’ mid-lane player, played a key role in his team’s eventual victory during this round. His skillful play with Viktor wrought havoc among C9. The latter team was once again forced to try and regain the advantage by securing drakes but to no avail. Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki crushed the last C9 resistance, paving his team’s path to victory.

Game 3

Evil Geniuses decided to repeat its strategy from the first game and once again picked Nocturne and Ryze. Danny managed to once again get Zeri, setting the team up for victory. Danny managed to score several takedowns without being targeted by the opponents.

C9 eventually took Danny down and secured a Baron but this still wasn’t enough to deal with Evil Geniuses’ approach to team fights. In the end, EG secured a third victory and finished the game with a perfect score. This turn of events led to C9 getting knocked out of the tournament, while EG will continue playing. The latter team’s next challenge will be defeating Team Liquid. If they succeed, EG will go to the finals of a regular season for the first time ever and face off against 100 Thieves. The playoffs will continue at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, this Saturday.
