- Evil Geniuses has signed Inspired as the new jungler of its LoL team
- Inspired is a veteran player who has played under Rogue’s banned for 3 years
- The acquisition is a step in EG’s team reformation that aims to bring the organization’s name back on the world stage
Evil Geniuses is proceeding with its “master plan” of qualifying for Worlds 2022 by signing Kacper “Inspired” Słoma.
Evil Geniuses Confirm Inspired Acquisition
The American professional esports organization Evil Geniuses has signed the Polish player Kacper “Inspired” Słoma to its League of Legends roster. Inspired will be assuming his usual role of a jungler as EG prepares for the upcoming competitive season.
The organization shared the announcement on Twitter, labeling the acquisition as one of the steps in the team’s “master plan.”
Although Inspired is new to Evil Geniuses’ team, he is far from being new to the game. Prior to signing this new deal, he used to be a part of the US-based organization Rogue. Inspired’s time with Rogue started with him joining Rogue Esports Club, the organization’s academy team, in 2018. In May 2019, following Rogue EC’s victory in the Ultraliga season one playoffs, Inspired became a part of the organization’s mainline team.
Inspired played within the ranks of Rogue’s main team for two years. That time saw the organization place first in the regular League of Legends European Championship Summer season for two years in a row. Despite this, the team only managed to get third place in the respective seasons’ playoffs.
EG Aims to Qualify for the Next World Championship
Despite Rogue placing second in the spring playoffs and third in the summer playoffs, the team had less than ideal performance at the World Championship 2021, finishing in the 9-11 place. That’s when the organization decided it was time for a change and agreed to transfer Inspired to Evil Geniuses.
The move was first reported by journalists from the esports news outlet DotEsports but was confirmed only now. It is the third change Evil Geniuses has made to its roster after graduating the midlaner Joseph “jojopyun” Joon Pyun from the academy team and getting the Canadian player Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme from Cloud 9.
Evil Geniuses’ performance this year was a bit anti-climactic as the organization finished third in the regular LCS season and in 5-6 place in the LCS 2021 Championship but failed to replicate this success and qualify for the World Championship.
Through strategic roster changes, the organization aims to try and correct its performance for the upcoming competitive season.
“We believe with his skill, determination, and hunger, he is the perfect player to take our roster to the Worlds stage,” the organization announced.
