After struggling in the late 2021 competitive season, DRX has announced some major changes to its roster and coaching staff, hoping to do better next year.
Three New Players Join the Team
Korean esports organization DRX has announced some significant changes to its overall League of Legends lineup. The team will welcome three new players and just as many new coaches.
The new players joining the organization before the beginning of the next competitive season are the following:
- Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo – mid lane
- Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu – bottom lane
- Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee – support
The three new players will be joining the rest of the team’s main roster, which currently includes the top laner Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon and the jungler Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon.
Zeka is a former League of Legends Champions Korea academy player who left the scene to play in the Tencent League of Legends Pro League. He will now be returning to the Korean competitive scene for the first time in two years.
Deft, on the other hand, is a former DRX member who had recently left in favor of a short stint with Hanwha Life. The player is now coming back to his home, although not many of his former teammates remain on board.
Lastly, BeryL is a former Worlds champion who helped DWG KIA win the 2020 event. However, he was dismissed after the team ended up second in the 2021 World Championship.
With those three members joining the team, DRX hopes of doing better in the next competitive season.
Three New Coaches Will Guide the New DRX Roster
DRX had a strong start at the beginning of the competitive 2021 season but eventually started losing steam. In the end, DRX placed at the bottom of the LCK Summer Split, having won only two out of eighteen total matches.
The team’s suboptimal performance demonstrated that a change is much-needed, leading to the organization removing some players and looking to hire new ones.
Other than improving its roster, DRX has also announced some major changes to its coaching staff. The three new coaching additions are listed below:
- Lee “Mowgli” Jae-ha
- Sin “Shine” Dong-wook
- Kim “Kim” Jeong-soo
The three new coaches will look to improve the team play of DRX’s improved roster and guide its players to victory.
