Cloud9 Starts Recruitment for Wild Rift Team

in League of Legends
June 28, 2021
  • Cloud9 is entering Wild Rift with Donovan “Zelo” Man becoming the first signee
  • The team is holding a quick online survey to identify a potential pool of players
  • Cloud9 is one of the most successful esports teams of our time

As Wild Rift's competitive ecosystem continues to develop, Cloud9 has announced a fresh recruitment push for its upcoming team in the game.

Cloud9 Begins Looking for Wild Rift Players

Cloud9 is entering the competitive League of Legends: Wild Rift esports scene. After making its mark on PC, the organization is moving in on mobile esports. The company is on the lookout for talented players who can help it represent its name in Wild Rift, which means there are many opportunities for talented players to join what is considered to be the world's most valuable esports franchises, at least as of 2020.

The organization already has a strong representation in numerous highly competitive titles, including Call of Duty, Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, and others. With this in mind, the team has drafted Donovan “Zelo” Man as their first player on the roster, who may end up holding the captain title.

The good news is that the recruitment process will not be pivoted on any sort of elitism. Instead, you can apply directly for Cloud9's roster using a link shared via Twitter. The process is not stressful either, as the survey featured in the link below will only collect a few routine questions.

Wild Rift anyone? 👀

The poll will enquire about your primary and secondary roles and a few other questions, and that will be it – you will have completed your first step towards becoming a member of one of the most fearsome names in competitive video gaming.

Wild Rift Just Got More Competitive with Cloud9 in It

Zelo himself is a known face in the community, and he is ranked a top 20 Challenger player in the North American region, which is Cloud9's stomping ground. Zelo has ample experience in both League of Legends and Wild Rift, making him a good fit for the upcoming roster.

As a reference value for those wondering what would get them into Cloud9, Zelo is a Season 10 Grandmaster with 385 League Points. Wild Rift is slowly building momentum, and Cloud9's decision to join the scene is a testament to this trend.

Wild Rift is also arriving rather late, years after Mobile Legends Bang Bang has been dominating the mobile space. Mobile Legends has been criticized for its similarities with League of Legends. In fact, Tencent won a $2.9 million lawsuit against Moonton Technology, proving that the mobile game had indeed infringet intellecutal property from League of Legends.

If anything has come of these legal proceedings, it's Riot Games' determination to enter new markets. With mobile games especially popular in China and Southeast Asia (SEA), Wild Rift now setting up competitive ecosystems in numerous jurisdictions, including Europe, CIS, Middle East & North Africa, and others.

Wild Rift is also going to get its own World Championship, similar to the ones planned or happening for Riot Games' other titles, including League of Legends and Valorant. The company already announced and held the Wild Rift Origin Series earlier in June.
