Riot Games’ hit animated TV series Arcane, set on League of Legends, is going to have the chance to win Emmie Awards in two different categories this September.
Arcane Gets Two Emmie Nominations
By this point, many people, not just League of Legends fans or even gamers for that matter, have heard of Riot’s hit animated series Arcane. The story, which follows popular LoL characters like Jinx and her sister VI in the narrow backstreets of Piltover, has already smashed several records worldwide. The show dominated Netflix charts across 50 countries when it was airing late last year, but even more than seven months after its debut, Arcane is still racking up wins.
Most recently, the show has been nominated twice for an Emmy Award. When the event to give out the awards comes around in September, Arcane will have a chance to win and will go up against well-established juggernauts like Marvel, Rick & Morty, and The Simpsons in the Outstanding Animated Program category.
The second category Arcane will be competing in is Outstanding Sound Editing for A Comedy or Drama or Series (Half-Hour) and Animation. There the show will go up against the likes of HBO’s cult hit Barry, What We Do In The Shadows, Love Death + Robots, and Ted Lasso.
Arcane’s Performance So Far
Arcane was not nominated twice for Emmy Awards just out of the blue. The show had a huge impact when it aired on Netflix last autumn with batches of three episodes over a few successive weeks. It brought in massive numbers of viewers from all around the world and it is genuinely a well-received series even by people who have no idea of the game it’s based on.
Arcane’s prominence in pop culture is not limited to its Netflix stats either. In spring, the show managed to win a whopping nine categories at the 49th Annie Awards, cementing Riot’s reputation not only as a gaming company but as a growing entertainment giant with a wide portfolio.
The show’s first season claimed “Best Animated Television Production” as well as gongs for animated effects, character animation, character design, directing, production design, storyboarding, and writing. Additionally, Jinx’s voice actress Ella Purnell, who voiced the older version of the character, won one of these nine awards.
