2022 LCS Summer Split Opening Weekend’s Best Matchups

in League of Legends
June 9, 2022
  • The 2022 LCS Summer Split begins in just a couple of weeks
  • Fans are impatiently awaiting the start of the event
  • It will see many teams eager to get their revenge on the raining champs Evil geniuses

To the delight of many League of Legends esports fans, the 2022 LCS Summer Split is beginning soon, and we are about to see some fascinating matchups this season.

Cloud9 vs Evil Geniuses

The Summer Split brings an opportunity for C9 to get revenge on EG, as the last time the two teams faced each other, the former suffered a grave defeat at the hands of Evil Geniuses’ Jojopyun and Danny. This is not going to be easy, however, as C9’s new experimental roster did not fare well in the Spring Split, there needed to be some changes.

For the Summer Split, the organization returned Fudge to the top lane and brought back Zven as their starting support. Additionally, C9 signed Jensen as their mid laner. Now the organization hopes Jenses will keep up with one of the fastest rising players in the league and prove to be more than a match for Evil Geniuses.

Evil Geniuses vs 100 Thieves

Speaking of Evil Geniuses, C9 isn’t the only team out for revenge. 100 Thieves will be out looking for blood after their recent defeat at the hands of Evil Geniuses at the 2022 LCS Spring Finals. The event saw EG, aided in large part by Danny's heroics, steal the prize from 100T’s hands, providing ample amounts of motivation for the latter team to defeat EG.

EG will be going up against one of their strongest contenders again and will have a chance to again take down 100T. Although they have once before defeated 100T, nothing is certain and Evil Geniuses will have to not rely on past glory.

TSM vs 100 Thieves

100 Thieves proved to be a strong opponent for Evil Geniuses, and although they did not manage to defeat them, the team still managed to go further than TSM this past spring. The Spring Split was still somewhat disappointing for both organizations, but more so for TSM, who will now be looking for any sort of success compared to last season.

The 2022 Spring Split was TSM’s worst split in its history, therefore the organization has much work to do. The organization hopes that its newest acquisitions – former PSG Talon star and veteran mid laner Maple – will bring the team out of the slump it’s currently in.

Team Liquid vs Cloud9

Fans should finally take a look at two of the most storied franchises in LCS history – Cloud9 and Team Liquid. The two teams will go up against each other as the middle match on the last day of the weekend. Now, TL’s fans’ hopes rest on the likes of Bjergsen, CoreJJ, Hans Sama, Bwipo, and Santorin to make up for the loss they suffered from Evil Geniuses in the Spring Split.

Meanwhile, C9 fans are hoping that the org’s roster, which was just recently formed, will perform as best as they can both against Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid.
