DRX Preview (Jan 12, 2022)
After a fairly unimpressive season, DRX had to ditch their full squad and go back to the drawing board. Apparently, what they had been trying didn’t work as the team struggled throughout the entire 2021 without delivering any measurable result.
As a result, nearly everyone but Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon was dropped from the roster, making headway for new players instead. The team secured five new players, with Kim “Taeyoon” Tae-yoon joining in July 2021 and the rest following in November and December 2021.
DRX has been strengthened by Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon, Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee. While these players are only now going to get an opportunity to play together and try their hand at improving DRX’s track record in the 2022 season, the oddsmakers give them a 64% of winning.
DRX will be most likely counting on Deft and BeryL to carry the team to the top as the duo have a combined 13 seasons of experience playing competitively. Oddsmakers have these two players as one of the most impressive duos of the season, and it makes sense given their track record.
This is further reinforced by the players’ track records in their positions. They are easily some of the most successful players in their positions in the entire LCK and have won 21 and 59 international games, making them one of DRX’s strongest assets and hence the high odds for the team.
Liiv Sandbox Preview (Jan 12, 2022)
Liiv Sandbox did respectably in the 2021 season, but the team decided not to give its four starters a second chance and replaced them altogether. This invites trouble as Liiv Sandbox is trying to leverage its internal culture of creating champions on short notice.
Whether this will work is another matter altogether. The reasoning is that the additions of players such as Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon and Kim “Kael” Jin-hong will allow the team to come together as a well-oiled unit and upset the odds once again.
We find it hard to lean hard behind DRX for this game, so we will be recommending two slightly out-of-the-box picks here.
