  • “Nintendo Switch” was temporarily listed on the Call of Duty “Online Services” webpage
  • This fuels recent rumors that a CoD game might soon be coming to the Switch
  • Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Microsoft’s president said they want to bring CoD to Nintendo devices

A recent Nintendo Switch server listing mistake on Activision’s website may hint that the company is working to bring Black Ops 4 to the console.

An Interesting Leak Suggests BO4 Is Coming to Switch

For weeks, fans have speculated that certain Call of Duty titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch. So far nothing has been neither confirmed nor denied, however, the infamous CoD leaker @RalphsValve tweeted out a week ago that Activision is working to bring a remastered version of Modern Warfare to the Switch.

There is still no concrete evidence of these rumors, but there is still something that supports the claims, that being an update to the official Online Services list on Activision’s website that showed a Nintendo Switch server. This part of the Activision website allows CoD players to see the status of servers for each platform of a specific game. The Nintendo Switch was temporarily showing as “online” for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

However, there is a disparity between Raplhs’ claims of Modern Warfare being worked on to be released for the Switch and the actual game that seems to be in the works. Still, Black Ops 4 would be a nice addition for CoD fans who own a Switch and want a handheld CoD title.

Will Any CoD Game Come To the Switch?

Activision removed the Nintendo Switch listing shortly after it was discovered. All of this could just be a glitch or honest mistake, but fans are still digging deeper than that. Some fans, however, say the listing was up since February, so one must ask the question of why Activision waited over a month to finally remove it.

Nevertheless, the prospects for any CoD game to come to the Switch are not out of the question. Since Activision Blizzard is going to be acquired by Microsoft by next year, this might bring many marketing changes and new partnerships. Not long after the announcement of the acquisition came out, Microsoft’s president Brad Smith spoke about the possibility to bring CoD to the Switch.

“We’d like to bring [Call of Duty] to Nintendo devices,” he said. “We’d like to bring the other popular titles that Activision has, and ensure that they continue to be available on PlayStation, [and] that they become available on Nintendo.”

Any Call of Duty game coming to the Switch will be beneficial for Nintendo as well. Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo’s president spoke not long ago that “Switch is just in the middle of its lifecycle”. He has reaffirmed that the company plans to focus on extending the console’s longevity by concentrating effort and resources on the Switch’s software, rather than a new successor product.

As of the writing of this article, neither Activision nor Nintendo have commented on the matter. However, this still fuels the rumors that we will see CoD titles on the Switch in the future.
