Thousands Sign Petition to Remove Bobby Kotick from His Position as Blizzard CEO

in Industry
November 22, 2021
  • Thousands of Blizzard employees want the resignation of the company’s CEO
  • This comes after allegations in a Wall Street Journal article, claiming Bobby Kotick knew about the company’s rotten apples
  • Bobby Kotick has been blasted by employees, content creators, and shareholders

More than 1,300 Blizzard employees have signed a petition, demanding the stepping down of Bobby Kotick from his position as CEO of Activision Blizzard, following allegations of coverups.

Thousands Want Bobby Kotick Gone

Activision Blizzard‘s CEO Bobby Kotick has been under a lot of pressure lately, with more than 1 300 employees signing a petition, demanding his removal from the company. Recently, the Wall Street Journal posted an article, claiming the CEO knew about Blizzard employees' sexual misconduct problems but covered it up.

In response to this, many other Blizzard employees have started a petition to remove Kotick from his position. At the time of the writing of this article, more than 1,300 people have signed. The petition was shared by the Activision Blizzard King Workers Alliance’s Twitter profile.

The petition’s creators explained that they no longer have confidence in the leadership of Bobby Kotick as the CEO of Activision Blizzard.

“The information that has come to light about his behaviors and practices in the running of our companies runs counter to the culture and integrity we require of our leadership—and directly conflicts with the initiatives started by our peers. We ask that Bobby Kotick remove himself as CEO of Activision Blizzard and that shareholders be allowed to select the new CEO without the input of Bobby, who we are aware owns a substantial portion of the voting rights of the shareholders.”

The Public’s Reaction

After the WSJ article, that sparked the wave of criticism and led to the creation of this petition, Kotick made a video, denying any allegations. Blizzard released a statement, claiming the report “presents an inaccurate and misleading view” of the company and the CEO.

Many big names in the World of Warcraft community, like popular Twitch streamer Asmongold, were not happy about it.

Popular Youtuber MoistCr1tikal made a video, discussing the matter, making snarky and sarcastic remarks of the news that Kotick allegedly knew all about the sexual misconduct happening in his company.

Unfortunately for Blizzard’s CEO, content creators and company employees are not the only ones judging him and asking for his resignation as chief executive officer. According to an article by the Washington Post, a number of shareholders with a total of 4.8 million shares, have joined the petitioners demanding Bobby Kotick leaves his position immediately.

For now, Kotick is firmly holding onto his position, despite the mounting pressure. As Activision’s share prices continue to drop, there is a large possibility that whatever support Bobby Kotick currently has, will soon disappear.
