The past year proved surprisingly fruitful to gaming peripherals company Razer as it managed to get over $1 billion in income.
Razer’s Sudden Growth
Razer is one of the elite gaming peripherals companies. Its products are considered as some of the best on the market. However, as good as Razer is, nobody expected that the turbulent 2020 year to be as good for them as it was.
Razer’s most popular products continue to top the market in several continents, including Europe, North America, and Asia. Their latest earnings report estimates the total earnings for 2020 to sit at around $1.2 billion. This marks an astonishing 50% increase compared to 2019.
The majority of that income is attributed to the company’s core hardware segment. According to the report, $1 billion out of the $1,2 billion total was all thanks to it. The company mentioned that its laptop sales have also been steadily growing, especially in the United States.
To top it, Razer’s hardware wasn’t the only thing that experienced growth. The software the company provides also skyrocketed in popularity and has recorded over 120 million active users.
The company’s virtual credit for gamers saw the biggest growth by doubling the usual digits.
Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s co-founder, and CEO commented that he is proud that in a year where many businesses struggled, his company managed not only to keep its leading position but even to expand it. Tan hopes to continue providing gamers with the best cutting-edge technology and gaming solutions.
Although COVID-19 struck many businesses hard, many hobby-related companies saw an unexpected growth. With people confined to their homes, gaming rose in popularity and with it – the success of companies such as Razer.
