Esports Entertainment Group pushes forward in the industry, this time by signing a strategic partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Partnership Deal: Details
Just days after preparing an acquisition deal for Bethard, Esports Entertainment Group has continued its expansion by signing a partnership with NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers.
The deal will put Esports Entertainment in the shoes of the NBA team's official esports tournament platform provider. Esports Entertainment will be in charge of hosting three esports tournaments per year, bearing the brands of both parties. Esports Entertainment will also be occupied with marketing the Cavaliers on the web.
In return, Cavaliers will include Esports Entertainment in the courtside LED signage in all of their regular home games. Esports Entertainment will also be the presenting partner for a themed night that will be hosted seasonally. The partnership will also include Cavaliers' NBA 2K League affiliate Cavs Legion GC and will provide brand exposure on the players jerseys both in real life and in-game.
Happy to Work Together
Grant Johnson, the CEO of Esports Entertainment commented: “We are delighted to announce the Cavs as our first NBA team partnership; our robust tournament platform will help the Cavs strengthen connections with their fans while providing new avenues for engagement.”
Matt O'Brien, Cavaliers' vice president of corporate partnerships also shared his thoughts:
“The growing popularity of esports provides a great opportunity for our team to create deeper connections and engagement with our fans. We think these tournaments will be very popular with our fans and a fun way to compete in an entertaining and social environment with gamers from across the world.”
Esports Entertainment Group has been on the rise since a rocky financial start in 2020. Now the company is establishing partnerships and acquiring other companies in order to push forward. As mentioned before, it just made a deal for acquiring Bethard. Before that, it bought Argyll Entertainment and Lucky Dino Gaming Limited. Esports Entertainment is currently waiting for a transaction waiver for the license of its recently-approved New Jersey GMBL subsidiary.
The deal between Esports Entertainment Group and Cleveland Cavaliers marks a growing tendency of sports and esports working together. Many sports organizations have even begun their own esports leagues like Formula 1 which just held the qualifiers for its F1 Esports Series. The Olympic Committee has also warmed up towards the idea of esports.
