Challengermode Enters Partnership with Yup.gg, Expands into LATAM Region

in Industry
February 9, 2022
  • Challengermode will operate in Brazil after signing a deal with Yup.gg
  • It will host grassroots tournaments for new teams
  • This will help Brazil integrate better with the global esports scene

Riot Games fans and professional players from the LATAM region will soon have more opportunities to watch and compete in more tournaments in their home territory.

Challengermode and Yup.gg Teamup

The Swedish esports tournament platform Challengermode recently announced it is expanding into the LATAR region after signing a deal with Singaporean gaming and esports marketing platform Yup.gg. Challengermode will host Season 1 of the YUPCUP, which is a series of esports competitions for players based in Brazil. This will allow newcomers and younger teams and organizations to venture into the competitive world while playing for a total prize pool of over R$40,000 (~ $,7600).

CBDO at Challengermode Philip Hubner, said that he is happy the company is engaging with Brazilian esports alongside You.gg. “Their dedication to bringing together the disparate parts of the gaming & esports ecosystem together in one place matches our own perfectly,” he said.

Hubner also explained that the new deal will offer players from across Brazil the opportunity to level up their skills. The region has recently been producing many teams for Riot's games.  “It is the perfect way to shine a spotlight on the country’s emerging esports talent, and invigorate participation at the grassroots level in a professional setting,” he said.

CEO and Co-founder of yup.gg Raiford Cockfield III explained that Brazil is a crucial part of the global gaming community. “We want to use our upcoming Yup Cup tournament to give Brazil the investment and attention that it deserves,” he said. “Challengermode’s dedication to supporting all levels of esports competitions, from grassroots up to pro, makes them an ideal partner for us to launch our first tournament series in Brazil.”

Brazilian players might have difficulties participating in Riot Games tournaments, but the new deal between Challengermode and Yup.gg will definitely help new teams to get their first steps into the world of esports. Yup,gg’s series officially commenced on February 5th with its Street Fighter V competition and is expected to continue until the end of March.

What is Challengermode?

Challengermode is a Swedish technology company founded in 2014. Its main mission is to make esports available to more gamers. It aims to create a platform that provides the fundamental online esports infrastructure for all relevant stakeholders within the ecosystem.

The platform is where regular gamers can get together, practice, or compete in esports. It hosts millions of competitions yearly. Challengermode’s technology automates complex tournament infrastructure through game integrations which facilitates gamers to easily play in competitions, tournaments, and leagues across any device or console. Its new operations in the LATAM region are only one step to its global expansion.
