Stavn and jabbi were supposed to extend their contracts if Casper “⁠cadiaN⁠” Møller was removed from the team, but they have instead allegedly revealed they have plans with Astralis, prompting Heroic to temporarily bench the two players.

Both Players Are Moved To the Inactive Roster

It seems that there is trouble in Heroic’s Counter-Strike 2 squad. The organization announced earlier today that they have temporarily put Martin “⁠stavn⁠” Lund and Jakob “⁠jabbi⁠” Nygaard on the inactive roster, while the team is figuring out how to sort out its current problems.

The decision came as somewhat of a shock to the community, but Heroic made a statement in an attempt to explain the new changes. It appears that the root of the problems lies in the removal of Casper “⁠cadiaN⁠” Møller on October 4, which was initiated by stavn and jabbi, after the team had a poor performance in the ESL Pro League Season 18.

Apparently, the 28-year-old player’s removal was a response to an ultimatum set by the two other players, which Heroic had to accept in order to keep stavn and jabbi in the team. The duo was supposed to extend their deals that run out in 10 months’ time, but so far, no such contracts have been signed.

The final nail in Heroic’s decision was the alleged fact that the two players have made plans with Astralis, announcing this the same day that the new contracts were presented. According to Heroic’s statement, this means that stavn and jabbi have essentially not kept top their end of the deal which saw the organization remove cadiaN in order to keep the team together.

“Mediation efforts were attempted, but the situation was brought to an ultimatum where Heroic had to choose between cadiaN and the rest of the team,” Heroic’s statement reads. “stavn and jabbi agreed that if Heroic let cadiaN go, they would extend their contracts. With clear intentions from stavn and jabbi to extend, Heroic amicably allowed cadiaN to pursue a new path.”

Despite the successes that the organization had earlier in the year, Heroic’s last couple of months have been somewhat mixed. They exited early from ESL Pro League Season 18, initially being sent to the lower bracket by BIG, which eventually led to Heroic stringing several more losses and being eliminated from the competition altogether. It was after that that stavn and jabbi had made their ultimatum, which led to cadiaN’s release.

Despite the apparent refusal by the two players to follow up on their side of the ultimatum, Heroic seems to want to bring the duo back into the team. That being said, the organization did state that they are “open to discussing transfers to organizations with a professional approach and an understanding of our players’ market value,” suggesting that stavn and jabbi may be allowed to search for a new home. So far, neither of the two has commented on the situation.

Heroic has already found a couple of stand-ins, so their current roster looks like this:

  • Martin “⁠stavn⁠” Lund (benched)
  • Jakob “⁠jabbi⁠” Nygaard (benched)
