- The two content creators have had beef between them ever since Van Dien joined FaZe
- They both exchanged hard words online but decided to meet up to settle their differences
- However, the conversation turned sour, with Van Dien leaving and threatening to quit FaZe
FaZe Rain has been critical of the way the organization is being handled and used newcomer Van Dien as an example for that, which escalated into an emotional encounter between the two.
Here’s the Drama So Far
FaZe Clan has been receiving criticism about how they do business and their overall financial situation for the past few months, and one of their biggest critics is no other than their own FaZe Rain. The 27-year-old streamer most recently got into another controversy, this involving the organization’s newly signed content creator, Stranger Things star Grace Van Dien.
Van Dien joined FaZe Clan last week, but it seems her reception was not as warm as she probably initially thought. The new content creator recently got into an emotional confrontation with Rain as both met up in real life to discuss the friction they experienced online over the past few days.
The whole drama seems to stem from FaZe signing the actress, as Rain and many other fans of the franchise, thinking that this is another bad use of FaZe’s finances. Following the signing of Van Dien, she and Rain went back and forth in a series of videos and posts that also involved some strong words from both sides. Rain even leaked Van Dien’s joining days before FaZe even announced it, according to him, in an act of criticism towards the organization’s business practices.
Van Dien responded to Rain’s remarks by bringing up his previous struggles with drug addiction. “I know you, Rain, as the person who almost overdosed on a live stream,” she said. “And I know that you’re better now, and I’m really proud of you for that. I am.” This caused backlash from Rain and his fans, although other streamers like Asmongold seemed on her side. “I believe in self-defense. And if he wants to call her ‘mid,’ and then she makes fun of him for almost overdosing on a stream, I think that’s totally fine,” he said.
To settle their differences Rain announced that he and Van Dien would meet up in real life and that their conversation would be recorded. The two content creators met up in the former’s apartment with Apex recording the video and started talking about what had happened recently. The conversation started well enough but soon things started to turn sour as both sides got into the gritty details of their feud.
Rain tried to explain that Van Dien should not take the things he says too personally. He also explained that he does not think “calling an actor mid” is as bad as bringing up another’s drug addiction that almost cost them their lives. “I almost died. And I called you mud and you responded with something I almost took my life,” he said.
“Who cares what I say? And if you bring up my drug past – are you getting emotional,” he said but it was at this point that Grace seemingly began to cry. “Yeah,” she answered. “I don’t like you.” “Okay, that’s fine,” Rain replied. “I’m just being very logical. I understand how you feel, but you brought things up against me.”
The conversation quickly broke down after that with Van Dien leaving Rain’s home, but not before saying she does not owe the content creator an explanation as to why she does not like him. She also said that if the video is uploaded, she would leave FaZe. However, Rain decided to upload the video nevertheless and share his point of view.
Not long after the video was uploaded, the official FaZe Clan account on Twitter addressed the situation, saying that although the organization is used to its members having differing opinions, it stands behind Van Dien and condemns any mistreatment of its members.
The back and forth between Rain and the organization continued on Twitter, with the content creator replying with a short “Ratio shut ur dumbass up Cbass,” referring to one of the main figures of the organization. Considering this response got five times more likes than the original post, Rains seems to have gotten what he wanted.
Cbass is yet another part of the whole drama, as Rain has accused him on multiple occasions of being one of the people responsible for FaZe’s current financial and other issues. Rain has made videos and posts about this and even threatened to leave FaZe if Cbass does not quit the organization.
As to what Van Dien makes of this situation we do not know, as she has not announced anything publicly as of the time of writing of this article. It’s not clear if she would leave FaZe like she said if the video surfaced, and her Twitter account has been set to private.
