  • Blizzard has confirmed the return of WoW Vanilla once again in a bid to stop losing players
  • The game registered under 2 million players according to streamer Asmongold who cited another source
  • WoW Classic proves to be the most resilient and beloved version of the game

After months of people leaving World of Warcraft, Blizzard has defaulted to the formula that worked over 16 years ago – a WoW Classic server.

Blizzard Uses WoW Classic as Hail Mary to Plug Player Drain

Blizzard doesn’t like it when they are wrong. Yet, the Public Test Realm (PTR) content featuring a fresh WoW Vanilla was a reason for fans to speculate that the company is once again caving in to pressure from fans.

Originally, Blizzard was adamant that it would never open a Classic World of Warcraft experience, but millions of fans changed its mind. After the successful launch of Vanilla and its unavoidable sunset, many players switched to The Burning Crusade Classic experience.

However, even more people left the game in droves, prompting popular WoW streamer Asmongold to gasp. The sharp decrease in player bases has made it evident that WoW Classic fans value and want one thing above all else – more of WoW Classic.

Give Us a Hard Classic Servers Restart

The community rallied behind the idea of a hard server restart, meaning that all data from previous plays were immediately wiped out. Asmongold also commented on restarting the classic server and asked for some improvements on stream. The team behind the Classic World of Warcraft experience didn’t promote the restart too broadly, but simply said:

“We’re also working on something for WoW Classic players who’ve told us they’d like a chance at a fresh start and will be sharing more on our plans soon.”

Naturally, the community went into ecstasy at the first hint that the Classic experience may be returning. Many players were cheerful at the prospect of returning to the roots of the world’s most popular MMORPG – again.

“There is just something about starting with everyone else that is so attractive,” one player shared in a post on Reddit. Growing support for a hard restart has been accumulating over the past weeks.

Of course, Blizzard is not going to simply wipe out previous server databases as that would create a dangerous precedent. Rather, it’s far more likely that they will release dedicated fresh servers for players to experience and enjoy on their own terms.

From our 5 star review…

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
