Team Liquid Will Support Ukraine with a Charity WoW Livestream

in Gaming
March 9, 2022
  • Team Liquid announced that its Race to World First WoW livestream will raise funds for humanitarian relief in Ukraine
  • The proceeds from the initiative will go to the United Nations Refugee Agency
  • This isn’t the first time Liquid has demonstrated solidarity towards the people suffering from the crisis

Team Liquid is one of the many organizations to show support towards the struggling people in Ukraine. It will donate the proceeds of a charity WoW livestream to the UN Refugee Agency.

Team Liquid’s Race to World First Stream Will Raise Money for Ukraine

The esports organization Team Liquid has become one of the latest to show solidarity towards the victims of the Russian invasion in Ukraine. The organization vowed to donate the proceeds of a charity World of Warcraft stream.

Words may seem empty against armies, but actions always register. As the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine continues to worsen, we’re going to support those in need.

— Team Liquid (@TeamLiquid) March 8, 2022

The announcement came ahead of the Race to World First challenge in World of Warcraft. The race will see the top guilds in the game try to be the quickest to defeat the bosses of the Sepulcher of the First Ones – the last raid in the Shadowlands expansion. This challenge tends to attract the best PVE players in WoW every time a new expansion is released.

Team Liquid will hold a livestream of its efforts to take down the Sepulcher’s eleven bosses. During that time, it will raise funds for humanitarian relief for the struggling Ukrainian civilians. The proceeds will go to the United Nations Refugee Agency which, in turn, help people who have had their lives ruined by the war. It will provide shelter upkeep, child services as well as home repairs.

Team Liquid Is One of the Top Contenders in the Challenge

Team Liquid’s World of Warcraft guild is one of the best in the game. It won the final Race to World First challenge in the Battle for Azeroth, the game’s previous expansion. When it comes to Shadowlands, Liquid isn’t losing steam – the guild won the first race of the expansion by successfully storming Castle Nathria and came in second place for the Sanctum of Domination raid.

Liquid is one of the strongest contenders for being the World First although whether they will be the ones grabbing first place is yet to be seen. The organization is streaming its efforts from the Helix Esports gaming center in Foxborough in Massachusetts. According to what Team Liquid’s raid leader Max “Maximum” Smith said in an interview with DotEsports, the organization is more prepared for the Sepulcher of the First Ones than it has been for any other raid. The team’s popularity will likely attract countless WoW fans, thus earning more donations to help Ukraine.

This isn’t the first time Team Liquid has shown solidarity to the ones suffering from the war. Previously, the organization opened its apartments in the Netherlands to all of the team’s friends and colleagues who couldn’t get back home.

Team Liquid is one of many esports organizations that have demonstrated their willingness to help those in need.
