  • Boston Scott becomes one of just a few dual-sport athletes
  • He’s reached the rank of Grand Champion in the game
  • Scott will also be a content creator for the organization

The Eagle’s Boston Scott will become a content creator and substitute player for Dignitas’ Rocket League squad.

Dignitas Signs Scott as Substitute Player and Content Creator

NFL professional from the Philadelphia Eagles Boston Scott has recently signed a contract with esports organization Dignitas. Scott will be a part of the organization’s Rocket League team, working as a substitute and also content creator announced the NFL star on Wednesday. Although ex-professional athletes of classical sports have entered esports before, like NFL’s Kenny Vaccaro setting up a Halo Team not so long ago, Scott’s signing marks one of the first dual-sport athletes with traditional and esports positions.

This contract was hinted at when Boston Scott went to a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game wearing a Dignitas Rocket League jersey. Shortly after, Dignitas confirmed the signing of the 26-year-old NFL athlete, who was on a one-year deal with the Eagles in 2021 and became a restricted free agent entering the 2022 offseason.

Scott’s Activities in Dignitas

One might think that Dignitas signing Scott is just a publicity stunt, just taking a popular NFL name to boost viewership numbers. But despite the fact Rocket League has a partnership with the NFL, Dignitas did not sign Scott just for publicity. The athlete has some very respectable Rocket League experience behind his back.

According to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, Scott has reached the rank of Grand Champion in the game. According to the Rocket League Tracker, this means Scott is at the top 1% of the game.

With his new contract, Scott joins a fairly exclusive list of professional athletes like Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson who competed in multiple sports at once at the highest level. Scott will act as a substitute player for Dignitas’ squad, but his main focus most of the time will probably be that of a content creator.

The organization finished second in the Rocket League Championship Series 2021-22 Winter EU Regional 1 Open, and is hoping to try to return to the greatness that once defined the team in Rocket League. It is hoped they would perform at the RLCS Winter Major, which was announced to be an in-person event in Los Angeles in late March.

Fans will have to wait to see how Scott is going to perform if called to substitute players in Dignitas’ main roster.

“In fact, we would argue that Bitcasino’s esports product is one of the best we have experienced. It’s simple, clear-cut, and offers a variety of products and options that other platforms are failing to deliver on.”
