Reignite Wins This Weekend’s Event
The Australian Apex Legends scene has a new star in its mist. With their win at this weekend’s SteelSeries Prime Invitational, Reignite managed to cement its name amongst Apex esports viewers. The event saw 20 ANZ and APAC Apex teams fo up against each other. However, only Reignite, made up of Rhys “Zer0” Perry, Rick “Sharky” Wirth, and regional superstar Noyan “Genburten” Ozkose, walked away from the event carrying the first-place prize of 5 000 AUD.
The team managed to surpass EXO Clan and the unsigned trio “BRP” with a scorching back-to-back-to-back run between rounds 9 and 11 to finish in the top spot with 178 points.
The Easter event saw a surprising first victory in the beginning round. Indonesian team Revenant Esports stormed World’s Edge with six kills and a first-place finish over Sutoraiku. The next two rounds were dominated by BRP who contributed to the immense 25 eliminations across the maps.
Later the ball went into EXO Clan’s court. The Thai trio battled their way to back-to-back firsts, earning 24 points with the aid of their 22 kills. However, Reignite was hot on their heels, finishing second behind them in round four.
The next rounds were played on Storm Point and World’s Edge. BWS, SnG, and EXO Clan became the next three victors. EXO almost regained their top position, however, Reignite stood in their way. This is the moment when the Aussies really shined bright. They quickly overtook EXO and began a roll that would fire them to the top of the standings.
The hat-trick Reignite did was enough to earn them a 45-point lead ahead of EXO and let them grab the 5 000 AUD top prize.
