Halo Championship Series Returns with Nine Partner Teams

in Gaming
August 31, 2021
  • Halo Infinite is looking to give competitive Halo another shot
  • The Halo Championship Series have been introduced as a result
  • A total of nine teams will compete in the upcoming HCS

The Halo Championship Series is around the corner with nine partner organizations looking to forward the popularity of competitive Halo.

Halo Infinite Gives the Game New Shot at Esports

It's not just hype, it's actually happening. After Ninja hinted that he might be returning to competitive Halo, Halo Infinite is restarting the Championship Series (HCS) with numerous esports organizations coming together to muster the player force and compete in the event.

Cloud9, Envy, and FaZe have all confirmed their participation in the upcoming Halo Championship Series which, to many fans, is a sign that esports is coming back to the game that pretty much helped build competitive shooters and has inspired many after it.

Lack of support from sponsors has always been a problem for Halo but as the esports world has exploded, missing out on Halo would be irreparable damage to the competitive gaming community. The nine teams that are vowing to support and develop Halo Infinite as a viable esports discipline will work closely with 343 Industries and ensure the esports scene's longevity and further growth.

Growing Halo Esports Will Be a Team Effort

These are hardly the only organizations jumping in on the action, however. EUnited, Fnatic, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Sentinels, and Space Station have all agreed to be part of the soon-to-explode competitive Halo scene. What does it mean for Halo esports?

For starters, it means that the HCS is returning and it will provide the competitive backdrop against which the esports organizations will be able to paint a strong future for the game. There will be no auto-qualifications, though.

Halo is historically a game of merit and this means that it will stay as much in the coming competitive format. While 343 Industries has already picked the nine founding fathers of the HCS, there is still time for other organizations to join.

Halo esports can definitely grow and with some 8,000 average players, there is a lot of catching up to do versus the rest of the competitive games available out there.
