Battlefield 2042: Release Pushed to November
Battlefield 2042 is the newest first-person shooter, marking the return of the famous franchise. The cutting-edge shooter was planned to be released on October 22, 2021. However, judging by a recent update on Twitter, the launch of Battlefield 2042 will be delayed to November 19, 2021.
Although Battlefield 2042 follows the famous Battlefield saga, the new game will feature a new Specialist system. There will be four classes of specialists that have one unique specialty and trait, however, the rest of the loadout is going to be fully customizable. So far, EA has released details regarding only half of the specialists.
The Pandemic Brought Unexpected Challenges
Focusing once again on the shift of the release date, the Battlefield 2042 development team along with Oskar Gabrielson, the general manager of DICE studio, explained that the global pandemic has brought unforeseen challenges for the development of the game.
The developers acknowledged that they hoped that all of their teams would be back within their studios moving closer to the launch. However, the COVID-19 pandemic did not allow this to happen. Thus, the development team decided that it is best to shift the launch of Battlefield 2042 to November.
The statement that was released on Twitter outlined that the developers acknowledge the hard work their teams are doing while working from home. However, they said that it is important to “take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.”
Battlefield's development team added that the fan's enthusiasm for the game has been inspiring. Last but not least, the developers thanked everyone for their patience while “finishing touches into the experience” will be put. According to the statement, further updates regarding the Open Beta can be expected later this month.
