  • The beta starts this Friday, October 6 for those who posses a code
  • Fans who have preordered the game already have a code for the beta
  • MWIII will be run through the COD HQ app on PlayStation

CoD: Modern Warfare III’s beta is starting soon and those who wish to play it a couple of days earlier, must complete a few things beforehand.

Here’s What You Need to Do

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is one of the most anticipated games of this year. The remake is supposed to launch its beta on PS4 and PS5 first, starting on Friday, October 6 and fans are already eager to dive into the remake of the popular 2011 FPS. However, there is some preparation that needs to be done before downloading the game.

The MWIII beta will run through the COD HQ app on PlayStation, which means there will be no separate application for the beta like in previous years. For players who already have the app downloaded on their consoles, this is a simplification, as they only need the beta code to download the game. However, for those who do not have the application on their PlayStations, they will not be able to access the CoD beta, even if they have a code.

Speaking of said code, you can only acquire it by pre-ordering MWIII digitally or receiving a code from your retailer after pre-ordering. Once you have the code, you have to redeem it through the PlayStation Store. If you already have the COD HQ application, you’re ready to access the beta from it and download it.

However, if you do not have the app installed on your console, you can do so if you bought Modern Warfare II this year. If you have the game, you can redownload it to your PS4/5 and the app will come with it. If, on the other hand, you do not have MWII you can simply download the free-to-play Warzone from the PlayStation Store. This will grant you access to the COD HQ app and you can successfully access the beta from there once the beta file is finished downloading.

Lastly, if you don’t have a beta code but want to play on PS6, then you have to wait until October 8 as on that day the beta will become free to access for any player on PlayStation, regardless of whether they have a code or not.

Modern Warfare III has been hyped for quite a while, but some fans have already expressed concerns about the game. Many are worried MWIII’s guns will feel the same as other CoD games. Perhaps this should be expected, considering this is a remake of the hugely popular 2011 title, but some variety is also needed to keep interest up.

Regardless, fans will surely give their opinion on the game once the beta starts this Friday.
