Activision Blizzard is hiring staff for an upcoming survival game set in a new universe.
Blizzard Announces a New Game
The game developer Activision Blizzard has let fans on some exciting news – the company is apparently working on a mysterious new title.
According to the official announcement, the new title will be a survival game set in a wholly new universe. This is a big announcement as it has been a while since Blizzard has worked on a new franchise.
The only teaser the company shared consisted of two promotional images. One of them features a female adventurer in full gear, including a skull helmet and a gigantic battle axe.
The second is more curious as it shows two kids in contemporary clothing standing in a forest. A modern city skyline can be seen in the background. The kids, however, stand before what seems to be a portal to a magical world, implying the new title will include some form of travel between worlds.
The Game is Still in Early Development
Blizzard also spoke a bit about the new title, naming the new world “a place full of heroes we have yet to meet, stories yet to be told, and adventures yet to be lived. A vast realm of possibility, waiting to be explored.”
Fans of Blizzard’s titles shouldn’t get too excited yet as this survival game is likely several years away from hitting the shelves at the game shops. According to Blizzard’s announcement, the company is currently looking to hire people in some fundamental positions such as artists, designers and engineers. This means that the new game is still in the very early stages of development.
Looking at the comments under the Twitter announcement, it seems like some people are excited by the prospects of having a breath of fresh air while others are skeptical about anything that Blizzard will make. The company was recently involved in a never-ending chain of scandals that heavily undermined the trust of its core fans.
It was recently announced that Activision Blizzard will be acquired by Microsoft. Some people are optimistic and believe that Microsoft’s guidance may mitigate some of Blizzard's damage. Others doubt that will change a thing. Regardless of how fans may feel about the new title, its release is too far away to say something for certain. Still, it will be interesting to follow the developments and see whether Blizzard will be able to replicate their past greatness.
